Supercharged or not??

Supercharged or not??
So I'm still shopping for a 10-12 XF. It looks like the supercharged model is roughly $8-$10k higher than the naturally aspirated. I'm struggling to decide if it's worth the extra money.
What are your thoughts, if you were shopping now for an XF, would you go with the supercharged?

I am in TOTAL agreement with Blackcoog. Unfortunately most people do not understand when you try to explain "performance and handling"…..to them it is just words. And in most cases they never take the time to actually drive a Jaguar. The whole thing kind of reminds me of politics. oh, oh, I digress.

For me only the SC was on the radar. The SC has great performance, sounds fantastic and handles great. Has most of the performance and suspension enhancements of the XFR with a stock look, just a supercharged badge on the tail, total sleeper.
Has all the options I wanted already stock included.

Just so you are aware: because somebody else bought 2010 thinking they were getting the 5 liter engine, not knowing 4.2l were still offered in that MY. So, he ended up with the smaller engine by a surprise.
In 2010 you could get the three engines. The NA 4.2 liter, (310hp) 5 liter (385) and 5 liter SC(470hp).
I have 2012 XF with the 5 liter engine and it's more than sufficient. Put your foot down at 70mph, look down and you in triple digits.
But, if i had to do it again, i would opt for the 5 liter SC engine with the 470hp.
Besides the power, you get the cut outs in the bonnet, slightly different rear valance, staggered wheel set up, CATS system, and of course, the Supercharged badge which i love for some reason.

I figured this is the response I would get and I agree. There is something special about the SC. Here's two I'm looking at, what do you think?

Basically the same car as my 2011 without the hood scoops. Very much a sleeper. I also have the Ivory over truffle interiro in a lunar grey. it looks absolutlely stunning and super luxurious. I absolutely love that color combo in the XF. With also the lower miles it would be no question for me. Ivory on ivory is just that the same as in any other black interior car.
At the end of this video you can hear my XF SC with the Mina exhaust, it sounds fantastic when down shifting and on the other hand is almost not audible at 2,000rpm cruise.

The silver one is a RAV, it's got a lemon buy back title. The dealer said it was bought back because of a problem with the touchscreen and computer. Jaguar NA fixed it and sold it back to the dealer. They are warranting it 6 yr/100k miles. So it would have about 2 1/2 more years warranty. The branded title does concern me for resale too.
The dealer for the grey one said on the phone they want another $1800 to certify it. The car has been on their lot for a while so they may negotiate some, I'm not positive though

In my opinion, the 375 hp is enough for me for this car. That said, if I could get a supercharged with the same features for 3k more, I probably would. But I wouldn't pay much more than that, personally. Strangely, when I bought my car, all the local supercharged models had less options than my premium. I couldn't even find nav on a supercharged. Admittedly, that was a big factor in my decision.

I had the 4.2NA, the 5.0NA, and now the XKR in the supercharged.
The 4.2 is a little sluggish but sounds great. The 5.0 is plenty quick enough - not quick enough to go dragging at the lights or whatever - but wickedly fast especially at 80kph and over. Unfortunately it doesn't sound quite as good as the 4.2, IMO.
The supercharged is insanely fast. In some ways it is a drawback because you cant throw the car around without it breaking traction, so I have to launch slower in my XKR than my daughter does in her Mazda2! It might be a little different in the XF which has more weight, but I doubt it. On the plus side, it has toned my driving down to an extent that my missus thinks that my driving is the best of any car I've had. It also sounds amazing, much better than the 5.0NA, maybe because of the active exhaust. On the downside, it is thirstier, or is that just because you drive it harder?
So personally even though there are drawbacks, I think it is more fun to drive the supercharged engine. But either are good.

Chalk a couple up to great neck jaguar. They told me the two they had on the lot didn't have navigation. I was surprised as well. They also told me even the base 2010 came with the 5 liter. I knew that was wrong, but didn't know about the navigation.

I would certainly go with the SC again - it has terrific power, sounds great and excellent equipment levels. Normally I'd be very hesitant on the 'lemon car' but it is a great price and assuming that warranty is a full bumper to bumper that covers everything related to the lemon issues, then I'd take the savings and risk it having to go into the shop again...

It sounds like the dealer didn't know what they were talking about. The only options available on the supercharged model in 09 were heated steering wheel and adaptive cruise control. In 2010 I think they had another option for the suede headliner. Everything else was standard.

I just purchased a 2011 XF S/C with only 500 miles for $38.5k and it came with 2.5 years left of factory warranty and an additional 6yr/100k mile extended warranty that started the day I purchased the car. I love the car and it sounds and drives fantastic. Like another poster said here, definitely try and see if you can find a 2011 XF S/C. The 2011s come with the platinum 5yr/50k mile warranty (only year that it was offered) that offers free oil changes, filters, brakes, rotors, and wiper blades.
IMO, I think what the jag orlando dealer is offering for the silver car ($37,600 with the certification) is too much. I wouldn't buy that car for more than $35k certified.
Definitely do NOT purchase that car with the lemon buyback. Of course the dealer is going to tell you that everything is now "fixed". How do you truly know until you end up buying the vehicle and then have to take it to the dealership every other month for an electronic issue. Besides this, you're gonna have big trouble when it comes to selling your vehicle or trading it in. Not worth the couple thousand in savings IMHO.
Sure the NA 5.0 385hp engine is "fast enough", but that S/C gives it that extra "oomph". Also, the one other thing I truly love about the S/C models is for 2010 & 2011 they come with the 20" selena wheels which are much nicer than the stock wheels on the NA versions. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't get any model less than the S/C. I really wanted an XFR, but it just wasn't in my budget.
