Tail Lamp recall

Tail Lamp recall
This may have already been discussed so apologies for the "spam" if so. Just wanted to let you know my dealer informed me last week of a recall for the LED tail lamps. JLR (finally) acknowledged that the (LED) cells can go out on MY 2009-11 and authorized the replacement of the tail lamps. My dealer installed 2 brand new ones Thursday! ;-)
Ironically they had already replaced my driver side lamp twice since owning the car - guess I wasn't the only one who complained!
Cheers,

This is not a Recall, it's a "Service Action". The main difference is you will not be automatically notified to bring your car in. Dealers should perform any open (not performed yet) service actions whenever the vehicle come thru their shop for service. (It's free money for them) On the tail lamp action, if all the led's are working they will install vent tubes that should make them much more reliable. If any of the led's are out they will replace with updated lamps. Service actions are usually valid for a period of time even if your original warranty has expired.

Jaguar USA sent me a card in the mail telling me there was an update for my car, I called the dealer and they said they will install tail lamps at no charge. The previous owner of my car paid to have new tail lamps installed, I told the dealer, he said maybe they were not of the new design and that they will replace mine regardless. I will take it in one of these days.

XF LED failure right hand rear
Thank you for the information. When I called my dealer he said that it did not apply to my car!! He was aware of the problem and the K107 update but insisted my 2010 XF was not included. I mentioned that it is a known problem and that there was a long string of other Jag owners who had had them replaced he agreed to replace it gratis since it was just out of warranty.
I will ask about the tubes to prevent further deterioration.
Thanks,
Mike

After I first purchased my 2009 XF in the fall of 2010 the dealer replaced the passenger side tail light due to several led's not functioning. There was no charge for the replacement at the time (the car was put into service about August 2008 so it was just beyond 24 months and the warranty period?). I recently noticed that there are 3 or four led's not functioning on the driver's side tail light. It goes in for annual service in a few weeks and I hope the tail light will be replaced at no charge. It is good to know that this is a known problem and perhaps the dealer / Jaguar will do the right thing. Fingers crossed, because I believe the tail light units are several hundred dollars each.
