They're How Much?!

They're How Much?!
I needed new wiper blades for my XF so I figured I may as well swing by the local dealer and grab an oem set rather than aftermarket stuff.
So, $70 for 2 wiper blades!
I needed them right away so I bought them but that seems like a lot of money for a couple of wiper blades.
If I had the time I'm sure I could have found them online for quite a bit less just like all the other oem parts I have purchased recently.
Anyone else think that $70 for a couple wiper blades is excessive?

I snatched a pair off eBay back in December after searching locally to no avail. Had to buy from two different sellers because one seller wouldn't drop the price on the other. They both arrived on same date though. I read a lot of threads about which brands were best and I'm here to tell ya I'm very impressed and satisfied with the Valeos. Not sure if the prior Valeos were original equipment from factory or aftermarket.

If jags didn't depreciate (as significantly as they do) I'd pay the $70.

I bought the RainX blades and the yworks great, but I like the low key fitment of the OEM blades best.

Whether one can afford them or not and regardless of what we drive, $70 for wiper blades is a ridiculous amount. I was told by a tech that the Jaguar OEM blades are made by Valeo anyway and like Chuck007 stated, they can be purchased on Tire Rack for half the price, so who wouldn't want to go that route? They are called the Valeo OE. The size that LawPanther mentioned above is the correct size. I had to get a new pair even though I'd never used the old ones. I'm all about OEM, however, if I can find them at a better price, that's what I'm going with, whether I can afford the marked up price or not.

maybe if we were talking about insurance or taxes...or even a super unique jaguar only part.......but for a wiper? that logic makes absolutely no sense. maybe if they were heated wipers sure
that logic makes absolutely no sense. maybe if the wipers were tied to the depreciation of the car.....but for something that has nothing to do with the other...no way.
go to autozone and get a pair of $40 wipers and you'll be fine

Us paying the amount for our Jaguars to go from one point to another makes no sense either, to most drivers on the road, when a new car at a quarter of price will do the same task.

I needed mine right away so I paid the $70 and bought them, tonight I checked online and they are less than $45 shipped for the oem wiper blades.
When I had replaced all the pulley's, belts , oil lines etc on my car I had priced them at my local dealer and saved about 50% buying the exact same parts online. The kicker was that my dealer would not match the prices even though the online parts were coming from a Jaguar dealer in another state which in turn come from Jaguar's parts warehouse! The EXACT same parts.

I wasn't being totally serious with this comment, but if something you buy hold it's value you don't mind buying a bit extra for the oem. I want wiper blades to work first and foremost, particularly in winter. If they are of poor quality then it doesn't matter what you pay for them. Does the integrated washer function drive up the cost?
Integrated washer is on the wiper arm not the blade so not it does not make any difference.
Plain and simple : some dealers are gouging. Otherwise why can another dealership them to your house for almost half price?
