To those of you having irregular downshift issues while braking/coming to stop?
Seems to be a common issue, ive been having since I got the car where it lurches a little or jumps a little when coming to a complete stop at a red light.. Its a slight hindrance...
Anyway I spoke to a ZF specialist place in LA today as one forum member said he had his serviced at a ZF dealer in Europe and the reset the software and his issue went away..
Well as I was telling the ZF guy this today he cut me off and said a service would not fix anything at all. Then after explaining the issue he said very confidently without a shadow of a doubt that I need a new valve body?
I'd like to hear some of your thoughts on that, and also if anyone you guys know a ZF Authorized place around the Los angeles that would be great to get second opinion..
Cheers.

What's the common fix though? Is it the fluid and software reset or is it the valve body (mechatronic) like all the tranny guys who say they are familiar with this issue are telling me..

For some people a fluid/filter change fixes the lurch.
I opted to remove the valve body and open it up to install a Sonnax Zip Kit. I also replaced some of the other plastic and rubber pieces in the valvebody as well as a new oilpan/filter and fluids. Not only did the lurch (which was very harsh) go away, but the trans shifts much smoother and faster now.

These threads helped me a lot doing the research.
I bought the zip kit on ebay, and the rest of the pats from the Genuine ZF Parts (oil change kit with filter/pan and the rubber parts for the valvebody)

God to know , so you had a pretty intense case of the lurch and this resolved it completely ? Anything else I should know? Thanks

If you do the service yourself make sure to get the mechatronic adapter seal and the 4 rubber pipe seals. It's in the ZF blog I posted before.
Opening the valvebody is very messy. Make sure you do it in a somewhat dust/debris free place and on some sort of clean table with a covering for the oil. I used a plastic tarp like thing that I cleaned before hand. There are some videos online about opening up the ZF 6spd mechatronics. I would recommend watching those a few times.

It was very harsh, to the point that I felt like I might hit the person in front of me when coming to a stop. Yes it is completely gone.

Now another question in this case it seems obvious it's worth the shot but I seen a conflict between people on here and mechanics who say these transmissions generally shouldn't have their fluid changed in general .. What's the consensus on that between the respected posters here ?

Yea I've seen that but there is conflicting reports even one of the jaguar dealers said that the fluid shouldn't be touched in the trans .. I believe you in just saying there seems to be a debate
