tire pressure light

Yes. The TPMS control module under the front right hand seat fails and that's the typical symptom. If the sensor battery is dead it will tell you that tire isn't monitored / system fault. If it's hopping around all the tires saying check pressure then I'd start with the control module
You can do it yourself if you can do basic work. The module is plug and play. They are around $200 or so. You can get cheaper on eBay and the like but have gone through multiple revisions / improvements so I'd suggest order from a dealer / legit source for the latest one
Essentially unbolt the 4 bolts that hold the passenger seat in place, rock it back and disconnect the wire harness underneath. Remove a couple of pieces of trim to fold back the carpet under the seat and it's held to the floor with 2 bolts
Search online and there is a great tutorial with pictures step by step. Prob takes 45 mins all in if you take your time
If you can't find it, PM me
I did mine a few weeks ago

another issue is temperature
all tyres need to be within 10% pressure of each other for the system to be happy , so a cold morning could read slightly low in the morning and fine later in the day or after a drive
visual checking the tyres is not enough , an accurate tyre pressure gauge will tell you a more accurate reading to help rsolve your issue before simply replacing items
you can also see each TPMS in a live reading using an OBD2 tool ,
i had this myself and one tyre needed the smallest amount of air to bring it within the 10%

Worth a try. But the system is designed to tell you that - if one tyre is low then it will tell you which one so you can inflate it.
The random warnings bouncing around all tyres saying check pressure is a very well known fault with the control module on the XF and an easy fix
So definitely check other causes first but if you search around on here you will find many people who have had this same issue over the past couple of years.

Wanted to piggy-back off this thread as there is some good info here - but sadly my situation still exists.
I get the constant (generic) warning light. I've replaced the module under the seat and removed the lighter adapter with no change.
The system does alert me if there is a problem with a particular tire, which goes away once I address the specific issue - but the generic one stays lit -
Anyone have this before?

Are you sure the sensor batteries aren’t dead?
I just changed tires and TPMS sensors on my 2009 XF. I’m having a TPMS fault with new 5002 315mhz TPMS sensors. I rode for an hour hoping they would learn the programming. No luck. Maybe my module is bad? I’ll unplug the USB charger. I’m waiting outside the tire store doing a 20min “park reset” on the sensors now.
Is there a way to reset on the vehicle side of the TPMS? Using the tire isn’t working.

Was it working before you changed the sensors? And what error are you getting? System fault? Or random low pressure warnings?
The jag system doesn't play well with some aftermarket sensors. I tried a set once and got intermittent fault issues for a while that was very irritating. Dealer said try real jag ones (which I did) and was fine after that

It worked sometimes. Figured the sensor batteries were dead. Didn't know about the USB interference or the module. I went ahead and put new dill sensors when changing tires. I had a flat and not having the sensors made me ride too long on it. The fault is each tire. It rotates the error around the car. I get the fault icon on the dash, It's really annoying,
