Default Trunk won’t open

Trunk won’t open, any ideas of which module I need? Jaguar told me the module needs replacement. They also told me the module itself would cost €1000. Any tips on which module I have to buy and how to replace it? I think it must be the rear body control module but I’m not sure which number I need.
Thanks already!

Can you open it with the emergency key??
Could be the boot/trunk loom near the hinge, the wires snap, but can be easily repaired.

Welcome to the forums JaguarXF-2012,

Good to have you with us.

Did Jaguar do this diagnosis with the benefit of a diagnostics session or guesswork? I agree with John a harness break is a possible cause as is a faulty lid latch which is under €150.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

I think it was just a “guess”. The trunk does still open with the emergency key but not with the remote, de button inside or the button on the trunk itself.
Do the wires inside the trunk break more often?
BTW, thanks already for your help!!

It's a simple thing to peel back the rubber boot at the hinge point to inspect the wires.

Yes. The wires bend every time you open it and break over time. Mine did about 5 years and I had to replace the trunk loom. It wasn't expensive - maybe $150 and an easy fix. DIY.

Hi,
Was this ever resolved? I also have 2012 XF the facelift with trunk soft close. Latch will only open manually with key. I took a chance and got a new latch but no joy. Checked the harness between boot-lid and car for any wire breaks and continuity was all good. Does anyone know where the relay is for opening the boot on this model?

Hey, I tried all things that could be the trouble makers except the module itself because of the expensive repair costs. So with my XF 99% the module was the problem. It’s the module on the right side of your trunk behind the fabric.
Good luck tho!
