Default Trying to source trim clip

Hi there,

I recently removed the A Pillar trim of my 2010 XF in order to install a hardwire kit for my radar detector, and in the process broke a plastic trim clip that's mounted about half-way down the trim panel. It's definitely a seperate trim clip as it slides out of the trim panel.

I can't find this on any part sites or listed on the EPC - can anyone help? Maybe it's on a different EPC diagram but I can't find it.

Any help gratefully recieved!

Thanks

Dave

This is probably too late, but were you looking for a power source ? The rear view mirror is a perfect source if you intend to mount the radar nearby. ???

It's right by the mirror, yeah. Sadly I'd already decided to run it down the passenger side A Pillar to wire it into the fuse box. I may still wire it to the mirror, but this trim clip is pretty necessary as the panel warps weirdly without it, it seems. Jaguar dealer said it isn't marked on the EPC (and in fairness, it isn't) so they think it's part of the trim. I'm confident it's separate, and I don't want to spend a couple of hundred dollars on a piece of trim I don't need to then find it doesn't include the clip after all :P

Unless you can get a part number, it is going to be difficult. Maybe a little silicone will do the trick.

Thanks for the reply - I've tried getting a part number but it seems near enough impossible, the copy of the EPC I downloaded as well as the one in the Jaguar dealer (which was basically exactly the same thing, haha) doesn't show a clip in any of the diagrams that might be related, so it could be it's supplied as part of the A Pillar trim. Either way, I'm not going to buy a replacement A Pillar trim so I think it's off to Autozone to find a plastic trim clip that's suitable...

Dave,

JEPC lists a number of clips for the B, C and D posts but none for the 'A' Post which means the broken one will be supplied as part of the Post trim.

You say it slides out so it may be the same as clips used on other parts of the vehicle such as the door card.

If you post a photo of the broken clip, someone may recognise if the same one is fitted elsewhere on the vehicle.

Here's an update - I've been able to complete this job for a lot less than a replacement A Pillar trim

For the plastic clip, I used a Doorman 963-005. There are probably more suitable ones out there but this was readily available at Autozone: Dorman/6 pcs. GM, Chrysler and Ford panel retainer (963-005) | | AutoZone.com - the only downside of this is that it's not QUITE big enough for the hole it goes into, so I put a piece of gaffer tape over the hole in order to make it slightly smaller, and it fits really nicely now.

The bolt I just fitted a standard M6 bolt, 16mm long.

Worked a treat
