Always look for inspiration......take a note from the designer of our fine vehicles.....

Jaguar XK by Kaves

I'd be interested in seeing a carbon fiber wrap on the XF.....maybe with a matte black wrap roof.

tc!! I see you on here. We waiting on the pics of that bad boy! I know you might don't want to get those "OTHER" people started again (as you can see the debate kinda got out of hand), but I know a lot of us want to see the finished product. Don't worry, we got your back!! Lol!

I absolutely love the Jaguar XF. Even though I know my 09' SC looks just as nice, I still look at others' XF in total awe. It's upsetting to see that some people don't have a clue and messing up a fabulous car. I've decided to go head and trade in my SC for a 2012 XFR. And you know what mods I'm doing? ABSOLUTELY NONE!! The car is already modded as is!!! No need to add on anything stupid. The vehicle speaks for itself as is. I hate seeing people buying a car, then go to best buy to get a Nav stick-on-the-window display. Why not just buy it integrated in the car? It looks so much cleaner that way IMO. Same with some of these mods IMO. If there are things about my car that's missing, or if I don't like certain aspects, then I'm not doing any mods or removing anything; I'm simply going to trade it in for a vehicle that is more suited to what I'm trying to achieve.

Some cars, modding is just fine. Like on a Chevy. Yeah, go ahead and do whatever you want. But modding A Jaguar XF is just stupid. It's like a woman taking a Coach purse and de-baging the purse because she want's to be 'different'.

My mum carries 90% coach purses and NONE of hers are 'badged'. She just likes the quality of them and isn't so shallow that she feels she needs to advertise for a purse designer in an effort of drawing attention to herself.

As we've seen on this thread, it isn't the car or the purse or the $$$ that makes the person. It is the person that makes the person. Everything else is pointless.

Well this is a fun thread?
If someone posts details of the mods they have done to their car, they should expect comments, both favourable and unfavourable, they shouldn't be subjected to personal abuse.
Lets stay on topic now and keep the comments to the cars please.

It was not necessary to delete the negative comments but it is very much appreciated. Thanks. TC

Wandering off the reservation, I do like most of the mods. The roof looks good to me as do the front grilles. I'm not a chrome fan, I like body color on almost all of a car..where practicle.
Overall, it looks good...

Default Black Grille for '09 XFSC

I'm looking to replace my chrome front grille with a black grille. Does anyone know where I can find one? I'm not having much luck in my online search.

They pop up on ebay from time to time. Or any Jag dealer can get you one for $600-700, I think. We have some vendors here that will give you a discount. You can hit the UK Ebay site and get an aftermarket version delivered for about $400.

I have a new in the box OEM one (black with chrome surrond) that I decided not to install and will eventually get around to trying to sell in on this site.

Adamesh sells them. You can also get them with a metal grille on their site.

I kind of feel the same way with my Indigo Blue XF. To top it off, I have two other cars that are also dark blue metallic. They never look clean except just after washing. After I bought my XF and before I sold my S-type (Saphire Blue) I took a picture of all four cars in my driveway and I realized I'll never again own four dark blue cars at the same time again. I'm glad I took that historic photo.

Next car will be silver or light grey with light beige interior.

German cars are notorious for their heavy break dust which is a function of the pad materials being softer which offer better break adheasion at the expense of increased pad wear and the resulting dust.
A few years ago (I don't recall exactly when), JD Power & Associates started asking new car buyers about brake dust. I was really glad at the time they did because I thought manufacturers might start using brake pads that create less brake dust. Perhaps this worked.

My wife's Mercedes E350 produced more brake dust than any other car I've ever owned. Within 2 weeks of buying it, I did some research and had the pads replaced with Porterfield carbon/kevlar pads, which eliminated 90% of the brake dust.

The brake dust on my XF 5.0 was not as bad, but Porterfield did not make pads for it when I first bought it. About a year ago I replaced those as well, and I'm very happy with Porterfields. There is no noticeable difference in braking, noise or feel.
