Default Warranty extension?

The warranty on my 09XF will run out next May, and the car will have about 36K miles. Is it possible to buy a warranty extension from Jaguar equivalent to the original 4/60 coverage? (incl 800-4Jaguar roadside, towing, etc.)

Thanks

Default Warranty Extension

I am in Canada and have an 09 XF Prem factory warranty that runs out end of April and it has about 70000 KM (40K miles) now.
Jaguar Canada does not itself offer it but uses a reliable 3rd party called PPP.
Bottom line is that they want $4000 plus our tax for 3yr/60Km OR $4900 for 4yr/80Km ...each with $100 deductible for each visit.
Coverage seems pretty comprehensive.
This is my 4th Jag and I typically average about $1000 per year in repair and maintenance. Of course I'm scared of any biggie repairs but it usually is the stuff other than drive-train that breaks down.
Since this is quite a chunk of change, I sort of lean to 'taking my chances' and spend on repairs when needed. Wonder what other people think?

You can get the extended warranty from your jaguar dealer. I don't know what the cost would be..but it probably is in the range of 2 to 4 thousand dollars.

Warranties are just insurance policies and you should buy them with that in mind. New cars include a whack of cash in the new price to pay for the warranty. Used cars are actually more predictable because they have worn a bit. You pay extra up front to pass off some of the risk. The warranty issuer makes money so collectively the buyers pay more thn if they had self insured.

Thanks for all the answers. My '98 was towed once, my '04 towed twice, and the '09 towed once (so far): I like the convenience of Jaguar towing, loaner, and $0 bills. I bought a Ford extended warranty for the '98 - had to pay a chunk of the towing bill, and the only two things that went wrong were not covered. This will be the 4th low-mileage Jaguar I've traded, with pretty high average deprecation per year, so a few $K for an extra year might be worth it.
Dealer sales said somebody "would get back to me" on warranty extension options. That was several weeks ago, so I guess I have to go back and beg them for info.

Back in the day I had a pleasure of driving a 2001 BMW 740i with Sport Package. It wasn't a pleasure to own though. Had I not had purchased an aftermarket warranty, I'd be out of pocket some $9000+ in the first 18 months. I did have to pay $50 per visit (not repair).

So my advice is to research and buy. If you choose wisely, that warranty will save you money indeed.

Sounds like you had a failed engine. These "defective" engines were found to result from sulfur in the fuel attacking the nikasil cylinder bores. Jaguar lost a few of its 4.0 V8 engines for the same reason and started using steel bore liners which they still do.

It wasn't awesome, but you might be off with the diagnosys. If I recall correctly, only 1995 were nikasil and had issues of such nature. Mine was a later development of that engine, a 4.4L. I had issues with VANOS; it was emiting smoke at start-up if it sat for a few hrs.
Still loved that car...driving a 5.0 XF reminded me of it

Thanks for the replies - dealer informs me that he can't get a Jaguar warranty extension. He quoted 3rd party warrantees of 5yr/100K, 4yr/80K, and 3yr 60K from $1800 to $3K. Parts and labor, $100 deductible, time from date of purchase of the warranty. I didn't investigate exclusions, as my warranty runs to next May. Not excited about a 3rd party warranty - I had one on my 98 XJ8L and it didn't cover the two things that went wrong or the complete towing bill. Probably will trade for a '12, but I wanted to know alternatives.

Smile Ford ESP extended warranty

Just bought a '09 Jaguar XF and the warranty expired. I'm getting a USED CARD FORD ESP extended warranty for 4 years/+36,000 (that's 36,000 on top of the 28,000) I already have on the car. It's $2,300 and its an exclusionary policy. NO gimmicks...it's pretty much bumper to bumper. Very little they don't cover, and you can take it to any licensed mechanic. Of course, you want someone that knows Jags so you don't get into any hassles with Ford. I'm planning on taking my to Galpin Jaguar for Service, which is connected to Ford.
I did a lot of research too with different Ford dealerships, and the fleet guy in CT gave me the best price. More important for me to have the years than the miles, since I don't drive much, and this is more for the big ticket items on the car (even tough everything seems to be a "big ticket" item on this car!)

I believe Jaguar extended warranty is $3600, if i remember correctly.

There are actually some good companies out there, that you can purchase aftermarket warranty from as well. I had bought it for 3 years/45,000 miles for my Lincoln, but the nice thing about it was, i could still get it serviced at Ford/Lincoln. It only cost me $1,500. I had Lincoln swap out the steering shaft that was $700+ and i didn't pay a dime. So, got half my money back.

I can dig up the info as to who the carrier is/was. Maybe you can get a similar plan for Jaguar.

Not sure how many of you are Costco member, but they offer aftermarket warranty for almost any car now. They cover a good amount and is priced similiar to the others out there.
I too would like to hear more about the other aftermarket warranty providers.

Stay away from Genuine Warranty and Warranty 4 Wheels period - after trying to get my first claim on a LR3 at the dealer for repair it was no joy - they will now not even return my calls for any addition repair work needed (I still have 6 months remaining on my contract). Learn from me......check BBB and make sure the company's policy is insured and that the rating of the insurance company is good.

I have had good luck with extended warranty companies and now bad luck - it's all a gamble.

Default Diwoman - a question

Do I understand you correctly that this FORD warranty can be bought for the JAG XF? If so does anyone know if this can also be done in Canada? (So far I have seen pricing from Insurall which is a BBB rated company, long in business...5 yrs 100,000Km $100 deductable and cover bumper to bumper for ~4K)

Smile FORD ESP warranty after market

To reply to the posts... There is currently no extended warranty being offer by Jaguar. Costco is not offering in CA...they are working on getting that. After reading lots of stuff about 3rd party like Easy Care, Direct Warranty, etc...I steered clear of them. I found good reviews from Ford. And, since they did own Jaguar and Galpin Jaguar has been servicing the car, and the rate for the extended 4 years was $2,300...I jumped on it. Was the best deal by far and it's truly bumper to bumper.

Default NO longer

Just talked to Jack and he says that Ford does not offer extended warranty for non-Ford vehicles any longer.

Jaguar has a tremendous extended service program. Less expensive than my Mercedes E350 and a friends Audi.
If you purchase it before 35,000 miles some dealers are offering a 72 month, 100k miles for under $3,000. That shows you how proud Jaguar is of their products. Their statement is loud and clear "we feel our products are rock solid and we'll replace almost anything with a no deductible contract".

I've got to give Mr. Cyrus P. Mistry (current director and chairman of Tata Motors) credit for sending such a positive message. He replaced Mr. Tata when he retired on December 2012.
