Default What is considered high mileage for an XF or Jag in general?

Hey guys,

I want to buy a 2010 S/C and im just wondering what you guys consider high mileage on a car like this and the year. 09/10. For some reason I feel like I need to find one below 75k Preferably in the 60's or below.. What is your opinion on mileage for these cars?

Thanks

Jags in General.... I have two X-308s MY 98 and MY 99 XFRs with over 200,000 miles. The MY 98 is retired due to interior and exterior cosmetics and paint.

I don't know if the XFR will do as good, but I supect it will.

Note: If you do not do many of the maintenance / repair items yourself, they can cost a bundle after warranty!

Depends on model and maintenance. Drove a 1996 XJ6 to 260k and sold to a buddy, now has driven it to 350k without major issue. Wife's old 98 BMW 528i made it to 384k before she drove it 70 miles after water pump failed, I'm still pissed about that.
Have 56k on my 2011 XFR, no problems so far. As with any car, proper maintenance is key. Quality modern vehicles can run damned near forever. My father drives a 2003 Yukon and is at nearly 650k miles on it. GMC offered him a new Yukon when he eclipsed 500k, he told them "maybe later when this one is broken in".

None yet. My dad has a new engine and transmission on hand for Yukon when it finally is time.

I like to buy higher mileage so I can buy a younger car.

E.g. bought a 4yr old w/ over 90K miles and got a real bargain (because hardly anyone wants that).

That's the same route I am going to take. I see a slew of cars with very cared for interiors and 100k miles going for less than $20k

It's not the condition of the interior that typically results in high repair costs.

You really have to look at how well it was maintained and how it was used to determine if the vehicle is a good value.

You would assume that someone driving 25k per year would have to do a lot of highway miles which would typically be good.

But if that same person didn't maintain the vehicle well because they knew they weren't keeping it past 100k, you can end up with large repair bills and deferred maintenance costs that cost more than one with less mileage and a better maintenance history.

I agree 100%.
Even though you may get a bad engine or trans, at least you can get 4.2's for 2 grand us all day to replace a bad engine. The trans is also a ZF, so those should be easily rebuilt.

Thanks[i have a 09 xf supercharged and a 12 xjl supercharged. On the xf I have 113,000miles on it I've had it since 2011 and never had a single problem besides the tire pressure light staying on . I had it for like 6 months it really got annoying but it went away on its own. So I would recommend getting one no matter what mileage but please make sure it's in food condition. good luck ]
