Windscreen replacement.
Might sound like a stupid question and sorry for all the questions lol.. But I want to make sure I dont get duped here.
The night i bought my car, i found a long crack on the windscreen, it was hard to see as it was blended in the black that goes around the frame.. Anyway the dealer told me to come back when I had a chance and they would get it sorted. So I went today and when he was on the phone I heard him say the german one then he told me that the guy gave him a choice between german version or chinese version, so he said he picked german as its better, not quite sure if he was talking about the sensors or the glass.
Anyway I know this is an $800 replacement at the main dealer and pretty sure thats not close to what hes gonna pay, so I want to make sure im getting the best kind of replacement, any tips for me to check when the guy comes to do it and before he leaves? When the windscreen is replaced is the sensors and mirror also replaced?

Safelite came to replace mine last week and the guy said they gave him an aftermarket one. I think he said it said "Pinkerton" on the lower driver side. I asked what it takes to get a Jaguar one and he said they usually only do that for cars 2 years old or newer (mine is 2013). He called USAA and they approved an OEM one but it would take a week to get here.
As for price, Safelite will give you a free quote quickly online if you are curious. I think there was 6 options for my car. Even though I had the heated windscreen (and all sensors etc.) from the factory I decided to get one without the heated feature as I personally find it annoying to look through and never need to use it. Safe lite quotes were $780 for fully optioned and $620 if leaving off heated. I assume those prices are for aftermarket glass.

There's a lot of changes listed in JEPC depending on accoustic/non accoustic/heated and VIN range:
Attachment 135086
(click on the image to enlarge it)
The differences are likely to be in the shaded area and the 'cutouts' for various sensors.

Thanks for all the responses cheers!

Well ALL windshields sold in the US have to be DOT approved as the minimum standard, Knowing that the aftermarket is way quicker to change (FIX) a known defect than the OEM, and the fact that my JAG windshield is delaminating as we chat, I'll do an aftermarket replacement. Had a Pilkington windshield on my G35 for years (It's still on the car too) with NO issues.

No intent to beat a dead horse here, but there may be some member doubt about Pilkington vs. OEM. Pilkington is the prominent multinational auto glass manufacturer now owned by a Japanese conglomerate. They purchased Libby Owens Ford(LOF) glass in the 70s or 80s. Odds are that Pilkington is the manufacturer of your OEM windshield regardless of the make of the car or where it was assembled.
No affiliation, but just replaced a windshield, and did some research.
