Winter 2017 - Battery Recommendations
As we start to get into the colder seasons, many 2011, 2012, and 2013 owners will be replacing their batteries for the 1st time. No issues yet, but I'm going to replace the original battery on my '12 XF this year as it turns six years old. Wanted to get some current recommendations on batteries for our XFs. Thoughts on:
1. Duralast Gold, $155
2. Duralast Platinum, $190 (an AGM battery)
3. Interstate MT5 AGM, MT5-49/H8, $252
4. Duracell Ultra Gold, $140
5. Duracell Ultra Platinum AGM, $215
6. Other?

Get an AGM. I've had really good luck with the ones I've purchased. They just seem to last longer, perform more consistently and are more tolerant to stupidity. Had a Die Hard that worked for a long time in my Infiniti. And the Interstate I put in my Jag works great as well. Can leave it for a couple of weeks and always fires right up.

Buy the cheapest group H8 AGM battery you can find. I have one of these in each of 3 cars and they're great. PepBoys sells the Bosch version for a little bit more because it has a 4 year warranty (instead of 3). If you go with PepBoys, they'll ship for free. Use promo code MMJ30 or MMJ25 for 30% off (if it works now) or 25% off.
