Talking wish list

Love my new (used ) car but I do have a short wish list:

1. power folding mirrors ( especially for the garage and car wash)
2. DRL leds
3. audio system should be better

Minor things so I am happy otherwise!

krock, what part of maryland are you in? I might be able to help you out with the DRLs. I do wiring for a living and a lot of stuff with LEDs and whatnot. I am sure we can find something to make what you want. I am down near California, MD (southern tip, hour south of DC). If you are interested in a road trip, let me know.

Welcome. How did you get the 2012 interior in a 2010 XFR? I have a 2011 SC, with the B&W system. I think the stereo is quite good. What stereo is in your car and what settings do you use?

Yeah, do you not have the B&W system? It's the best audio system I have ever had in a car.

On the B&W system it only needs a woofer upgrade to be quite good.

good morning jag lovers,

Yes I do have the B&W system...don't know what the wattage is though.I agree with kyanite, the system definitely needs a sub upgrade. Jaguny I bought my car from Chantilly Jaguar...the previous owner traded it in for a 2012 XFR that had my interior. the dealership allowed him to swap out his older all black 2010 interior for the one I now have! He's happy and so am I! I thinkj the interior is what sold me on this car. back to the stereo....yesterday I dropped the car off to have them address a few minor issues and I received a 2013 xf 3,0 awd loaner....It has the Meridian system in it and I think it sounds better than mine! I am a audio junky so I will do what I need to do to improve my sound...I may need to play with the settings as Jaguny suggests.....missing my car already!

I'm a bit of an audio snob and I will agree that stock for stock the Meridian system has a better full range sound. But I wasn't impressed by the upper midrange and highs, nor the imaging. By adding the sub you get full range sound and the benefits of the B&W system. It is important to turn down the surround level and make sure you're in PLII. Also, the Sub level is a true level control and not an eq. So use that level control to boost the lows. Also, don't overdo the Bass level. Anything more than two or three bars above 0 just makes it more muddy unless the song has very little bass. The system also isn't very tolerant of poor recordings. That shows me that the system is very accurate. If you have 128kb downloads don't expect good sound. And don't judge the sound from the radio. Never sounds very good. Hope that helps. If not send me a PM and I can give you some additional tips.

Thanks Kyanite, PLII is the setting I use. I run my music mostly through the iPod direct connected, but cd's sound better. Quality of recording is critical with any quality system as bad recordings are not enhanced by better equipment as you point out.

Kyanite any pics of your modified audio setup? I am particularly interested in the amp and subwoofer arrangement. I still don't have my "panther " back yet but I can"t wait to fiddle around with the settings.

What bitrate are your recordings? Try using Apple Lossless. Uses a lot more disk space but sound much closer to CD's.

This is cool....I looked at that Black 2010, took it for a spin too, when I bought mine at Chantilly - but went with the silver one instead.

I love the B&W - just turn up all the settings and it will be awesome - best thing....no speaker distortion at highest level! I am taking it in next week to have them do two things to the ECU:
1. Global window close - ability to use it
2. Power mirror fold in/out

One more thing to do - GO BLUETOOTH for your smartphone with this - I love it!!!!!

Is there a power mirror fold in/out feature on 2010 models? I have a 2010 SC and not sure there is any power folding to the mirrors. Would love to hear more if there is a feature for power folding mirrors on the 2010 cars?

I have a 2010 XFS and the mirrors power fold.
I don't think that function was standard on the 2010 model though, I suspect it was an option.
Two ways to make them fold/unfold.
Configure via Vehicle Settings so that when you lock the car the mirrors fold in, and fold out again when you unlock it.
Or manually, by pressing and holding both mirror adjust buttons at the same time, up or down as the case may be.

Sorry - I had not heard this before....the Power folding mirrors is just an ECU setting that can be turned on by the dealer?

That would be awesome if that's the case.

I see you have a 2011 XFR.
So you should already have power folding mirrors, without any need for the dealer to play around with ECU settings. To check, simply hold both mirror adjust buttons down at the same time and see what happens.
