xf 2.2D 2013 electrical problems
mechanically car is sound electrically not great but can live with door locks that 2 out of 4 work, parking brake not working and reversing camera not working, big problem is flat battery for the last 2 nights, the battery discharges totally down to about 2 volts and had it recharges and again overnight discharged to about 2 volts. So out with the ammeter and there's 15 to 20 amp on the ground wire with everything switched off, removed as many fuses and relays as i could fine still about 15 amps, removed as many connections to engine an i could fine still about 15 amps . took out the boot internal covers and opened up the battery box, there's 2 red cables going forward and these have 8 amps load on each one cable goes to the electric heater booster and the splits off to the junction box rear and the junction box engine Maybe i should leave the electric booster heater disconnected what real purpose does it serve. As a side line a few months ago i connected a dc/ac car inverter and this fried the alternator , replace that and the electric parking park has not worked since then, with the battery fully discharging when installing the battery the electric parking brake is now working. with all the fused disconnected the headlights are still working cant figure that one out. Ahh well back to putting things back together hope not lose a fuse
As diesel engines are slow to reach temperture, the booster provide internal heat to the cabin until the engine warms up. 15amps is a massive draw & will flatten the battery in no time, disconnect the heater & see if the load drops.
