Unhappy XF bumps once

Hey everyone,

I own a XF 2014 since quite a while, but there are some things that worry me.
The XF is a great car to own. The fuel economy is great and the sound isolation is SUPERB.

But I when I listen to the car, it makes a small bump after driving 10 meter (always) doing that. Is that something like the ABS that kicks in or?
You can hear it and you can feel it when you are in the car.
Does somebody know what this is? And is this bad? Because I never payed attention to that

Most likely it is the ABS self test

Mine does this as did my '09. I must say I don't notice it as a regular occurrence.

Does this happen everytime you stop, or only when you first start it up?

Mine gives a little bump, but only once, after starting the car and pulling away from the driveway. I always thought it was the e-brake disengaging, but it makes sense that it would be the ABS setting up.

Sorry for late reply.. xD I had a very busy week.

Thanks for the reply's.
I'm glad I didn't buy the BMW 520GT.
The JAG is outstanding and is not even a match against the 520GT.

Interesting... on startup I notice my 09 XF will jerk slightly after driving away. I always though it was the trans shifting but when I leave it in manual mode and drive off I can still feel a slight jerk but the car isn't shifting yet. I think I might have a dirty wheel sensor.

Edit:
Some other info I ran across on my searching which is related to 90's jags but might still be a clue to the issue: "The ABS does a two pass self test. First test is done directly at startup. When this passes, it will do the second part as soon as the car exceeds ~10mph. This second test is dynamic, firing off the pump and cycling all of the dump valves."

Potato, if you are hearing is the clunking noise then it's fine. All cars these days do the same thing. Some are much louder than others. It should only do it on first statup. If it does it every time you stop and go then it's a problem.
