Default XF & DPF Full message

Hi all,
I have a 2009 XF which has just started displaying that the DPF is full message. This is a result of mainly a week of urban driving, which I normally do lots of motorways instead. Will a regeneration work or does it actually need a new filter at a cost of approx £1500 ( approx 2000 euros). Any thoughts?

Cheers.

Hello, if its first time it will be ok, regeneration should work. Just go on motorway for 20-60min (depend of condition of you DPF, outside temperature, your speed,....). Just cruise on speed 50-65mph (not to shore about this numbers, in this case i'm driving at 60-65) and it should go away.
In my case its just went of display, some people saying you need to restart the engine.
