Cool videos jlocc619!

The exhaust is definitely getting quieter since now I can drive through a parking structure and it sounds very near stock if not quieter in some aspects. I guess you could say 0-25% pedal pressure it sounds no different than stock but at 25-50% it really comes alive. At 50% it starts to get quieter but at wide open throttle it has a rumble just loud enough you can hear it echo off freeway overpasses even with the windows up. That certainly wasn't there with the stock exhaust but nowhere near the deafening roar of more highly modded cars. Highly recommended!

K&N air filters go in on the weekend so i'll see if I can take some videos then.

Make sure you blot dry and air dry those filters first please! When new they come with way to much oil on them and will ruin your MAFs. I wish the the top dogs would make the great dry paper ones for our cars. I think BMC was one of them and they were great on my AMG and others have tested those to be great as well.

I believe if you look up the XK and the XF on the K&N website it's the same part number. So if you wanted BMC just buy the XKR part number.

Just to confirm, it's the XJ and I believe BMC makes a filter for the XJ

I opened the air filters and let them air dry for two days straight flipping every 12 hours. One was bone dry out of the box and the other was definitely wet/oily. I know K&N's cleaning directions only say to let them dry 20 minutes but I've always done mine for at least a day. That worked fine in my X-Type and my Solstice earlier.

I will install the filters later today just soon as I locate my torx socket set.

OK, I got the K&N filters installed and the throttle response is subtly smoother. Maybe just a tad more engine noise but that's probably just in my head. Exhaust is still getting quieter. I'm guessing I put about 150 miles on the exhaust at this point.

Guys,
I was informed that Mina Gallery is extending this group by until the end of this week (Saturday evening) for anyone who may want to get in on it last minute or missed the deadline.

I paid $125 at the the touch up tent in the back of the dealership. Factory paint match with warranty. I first went in when my normal service advisor was off and they tried to send me to the body shop, which I declined.

Btw, I'm loving the sound more and more each day. Cruising the freeway at 90mph @ 2,500rpm seems to be my sweet spot.

Just got my exhaust today, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this, after opening the box I didn't even get as far as taking it out. One of the pipes was visable and I noticed it was really black inside, so I stuck my finger in and swiped. There is about 2mm of sutt or whatever it is. It is as far down the pipe as I can see. Was this used? Please someone try an explain, I would like opinions before I call Mina. Did anyone else notice this? You would think the pipes would be clean inside being that they are brand new. Below I posted some pics.

I'd call Chris at Mina and address it with him. I can't imagine they'd give you used product,

Talked to Chris, it turns out and it makes complete sense, when it was high polished they use a high power belt buffer and the compound while buffing was going down the pipe. That explains if you look close there is a couple metal flakes on my finger. Everything is all good.

That explanation is nice and everything but that stuff should have been cleaned out before shipping.

I believe it was today. But you might want to call tomorrow and see if they will grant.

jlocc619,

I received my diffuser Sat and cant wait to get it installed. I had a few other questions for you before I send off to paint. Did you install yourself? Reason I ask is I know factory diffuser snaps out of bumper and the Mina one snaps in. They supplied 8 Screws 4 short and 4 long. Per instructions it says these are used to secure tabs. I am a little lost on what I would be drilling into or through. Maybe you could shed some light or if at all possible have pics of the underside so I can see how you secured yours. Any help would be appreciated.
