Default XF model help

Hi everyone, my name is Greg. I currently have a BMW 335i and it's about time to by a new car. I have test drove some Jaguars and keep looking for the right one. I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between the 2015 XF R sport V8 and the 2015 XF V8. I can tell the body is different, but is there anything suspension related that is different? Anything engine wise that would make the R Sport worth the extra money? Also, if you have any thoughts on the 8 cyl version of the XF vs the newer 6 cyl version please let me know. Coming from the BMW world, I have a lot of catching up to do. Thank for any input in advance.

Greg

The XF R Sport is not an XFR. It's a trim package on the standard XF to make it look more sporty. Think it might have sports suspension too. But definitely not a real 'R' in performance.

OP will need to check specs very carefully as there are different models under the R Sport trim

I was wondering if the XFR and the R Sport were different. I even contacted a dealership and they said they were the same. I had my doubts that they were telling me the truth.

>2015 XF R sport V8 and the 2015 XF V8

I think you need to do a little further investigation regarding those cars. There were two different models of XF that year. One was the original '09-'15 Jaguar S-Type based XF and the other is the entirely new model that was first offered that year. Make sure your comparing the same version.

The older XF did come with both V6 and V8 engines both supercharged. The new (i.e. current) XF no longers offers a V8.

If they are both V8 powered XFs they could be the XF Super (470hp), the XFR (510hp), and the XFR-S (550hp).

Also if you post the full vin here there are folks who can look it up and get you the original factory specs and info
Note that models also vary significantly by geography.

A lot of confusion here.

AFAIK, the previous model R Sport was an optioned up 4 cylinder turbo diesel. The current R Sport is a 340 hp supercharged V6.

The previous gen XFR did not have 550 hp; it was 510 hp. The XFR-S had 550 hp.

The current model range does not have a V8 option, so if you truly meant that you want a "new" car, it's a 380 hp supercharged V6 at the top of the range. Or you can wait and hope that Jag brings out R and SVR versions with V8's.
