Default XF - mysterious coolant loss

Hi folks. Never thought I'd have another jag with this issue, but I'm loosing around 1/3 of a reservoir of coolant after around 150 miles. Not a drop of coolant is found on the ground. No coolant collecting in unusual places. System was pressure tested and there are no leaks. No coolant in the oil. No change in engine performance. The only thing I might say is that I coincidentally have heard a loud 'whine' that lasts a few second while accelerating. Unsure is this is a symptom of a bad water pump.

Any ideas why I'm having such rapid coolant loss and why I never see coolant on the ground?

Thanks!

Not familiar with the XF but a few questions.
Any coolant smell?
Did you recently do a flush and fill?
Have you removed the under scuttle to see if it's collecting there?
Have you removed the under scuttle and looked @ the water pump weep hole?
Have you done a pressure test?

Thanks for chipping in ! Yes, I smell and odd "burned" coolant smell if I look under the hood after driving. I was informed today that the orange coolant (unlike the green coolant) evaporates easily is not found on the ground.

I don't seen any coolant collecting. Pressure test was negative (no leaks).

Not sure if this is the same leak you have, but I was losing coolant pretty rapidly too on my 5.0L 10XF. I haven't fixed it yet, but there appears to be some coolant lines under the intake manifold that blew. Took forever to figure out because the way the coolant drips down it never hits the ground. Only hits the cats and pours all over the transmission on the top. (I only found the leak by chance because I was doing the transmission mount) Find a boroscope and take a peak under the intake manifold.

It should be noted that I pressure tested the tank and it held up fine, not even a slight leak. I only leak coolant after/while the vehicle has reached operating temperature.

Don't take their word for it. Take a turkey baster, or similar, and suck out a little coolant from your reservoir and put it on the ground and see how it behaves. I think you would be surprised how long it lasts before it evaporates.
