Default XFR: P0087 fuel rail pressure sensor

Dear members,

Does a fuel rail pressure senson somtimes have a problem? I have P0087 code (Low fuel pressure) and I am considering ordering that part. Would it be a high pressure pump problems? Your advice will be highly appreciated.

Looking at the picture it seems you have an earl model XFR, 4.2L S/C. I have seen this code pop up several times on the 4.2, and its turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator. Sits on the back of the fuel rail, Bank 2. Have you checked fuel pressure first to make sure its in specs? If fuel pressure is where it should be, most likely the pressure regulator.

Thanks JBzXJ40. Mine is 2010 5.0SC model. It coule be the same problem that you mentioned. I am not sure that part can go wrong since mine is only 67000 km (apprx. 41,000 miles) Is a fuel pressure regulator is the same as a fuel rail pressure sensor? Thanks.
