The dealers, Fort Myers and San Jose, did what they could and made significant efforts to get answers. Jaguar USA has primary responsibility for releasing a car that was not adequately tested and then falling to intervene when this issue came up. The XFR-S is a halo car that is a statement about the brand and high performance, I think the reason they acted quickly on the buy back was damage control.

And fwiw I have purchased 3 Range Rovers in 6 years and had another one on order, now canceled. I should have received more personal support. Thanks for all the comments here, I appreciate it.

A buybacks in two weeks is fast. The intervening lack of communication is the disappointment and source of aggravation. I suspect this can happen with other brands. Glad it was resolved.

I know it's been a problem with BMW first hand about lack of communications

Jeff, have they already bought your XFR-S back, or is that still in-process?

Out of curiosity, what color is (was) your XFR-S?

Thinking about a purchase? The car would be a steal,
And it would have a new tranny, LOL.

Meaning no disrespect, but to simply throw in the towel on JLR as a whole, when the manufacturer moved with great speed, and I'm sure the dealer was doing everything possible to try to keep the customer happy, seems an overreaction. Obviously, not a good situation at all, and I think Jaguar needs to establish a more uniform loaner program - If anything, the Enterprise people probably did more to damage this relationship than anything. Mechanical issues happen, and they happen with more frequency in new implementations - to each their own, I guess.

Sometimes these situations come down to how it was handled rather than the speed at which it was handled. It certainly seemed like a reactive response by Jaguar USA rather than a proactive response. I will give Jaguar USA credit however since they are going to do the right thing here and hopefully they will handle a situation such as this better going forward.

This car (I assume) is for sale at Hornburg Jag in CA. It is potentially a steal at $66k but I have been communicating with the dealer and from the details provided, it is hard to work out whether the issue is fixed or not. Since I am so far away, I have passed on it (it was still out of my budget anyway). I do not believe it has had a new tranny at all...
