Is your XF your everyday driver?

Considering buying a 2013 XF 3.0 AWD. with 33K miles for $35K. It would be my primary vehicle and I'll probably drive about 15K miles per year in Cincinnati. I have been told jags are a mechanical nightmare but I'm thinking this is not entirely true anymore. The XF is the only car that turns me on but I don't want mechanical issues and need reliability. Am I crazy or is this car a good fit? Thanks!

I bought my CPO 10 to be a DD and used it for the first full winter and of course the other 3 seasons, but the last two winters I have been buying 10 year old AWD vehicles for winter then giving them to my daughters that have come of driving age.
I bought mine with 35K on the clock and it now has 70K in the 2.5 years I have owned it.
I did get winter tires for my Jag the first year and they performed great. Again, the only reason I parked it for the last two winters is because I wanted to buy and drive (to make sure they were safe and reliable) vehicles for my kids and since they both turned 16 in late spring, it was a perfect excuse to by my 03 Nissan Fronter 4x4 in late 2013 and my 03 Honda CRV AWD in late 2014 to drive for the messy months and then turn over to them.
My car has been very reliable and never has left me stranded. I did have to have the water pump replaced last summer but I caught it just starting to weep and the dealer took care of me the same day with a loaner and was never stranded.

I don't have an XF any more but only because I've downsized to an XKR. My first XF I have for 4 1/2 years. Being the first of a new model I had some teething issues in the first 12 months especially - there were a couple of recalls (fuel filler flap, seatbelt) and I had issues with the sunroof rattling. But after the second year I had no issues at all that I can remember.
I then bought a second one, a 5 litre. That had a minor issue with a "thump" on stopping that was fuel sloshing around in the tank and was fixed by a baffle going in. Otherwise it was perfect.
Now I've had the XKR for 18 months. It has about 35,000 miles on it of which I've done maybe 7,000 (I'm converting back from km). It hasn't had any issue save for the occasional error message on the adaptive headlights which goes away by itself.
All of them have been daily drivers, I have to say that jag ownership has been the most rewarding I've experienced by a long shot.

Mine is a daily driver and on average I travel 30,000 kms per year (about 18,600 miles). Fortunately, we have the diesel version in Australia and it is more frugal than the petrol variants. Unfortunately, only the RWD for us.
I do prefer the AWD versions and was an avid Subaru fan until the styling went all boxy.
The XF has very sleek lines and styling and not one person that sees it has not liked the style. Then when they sit inside, more style. So both inner and outer beauty, a rare thing, and a daily joy.
On the reliability front, I have had no issues other than being annoyed so much by the Brake Pads Low warning message, that I imported some new EBC Redstuff pads and with the assistance of the local mechanic and his hooist, we changed the pads and sensors. All been good since.

I daily drive my XFR. Of course, I've only had it a few weeks but I'm happy as can be.
I would imagine that the 2013 redesign includes numerous improvements that impact quality and reliability. I think you'll be very happy with it. If memory serves, it comes with a 5 year/50000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and complimentary maintenance -- mine did.

I DD a 2013 XF AWD and it's been great. I bought a CPO service loaner with 10k miles back in November and haven't had any issues yet. 2013 was the first year Jag offered AWD on the XF, so I can understand some uncertainty about the reliability.
I've been so impressed with mine, it's quiet, comfortable, and certainly quick. The SC V6 has a nice meaty midrange, I can't compare it to the V8s since I haven't driven one of them. I've never felt like I lacked power, even when I took it up a twisty mountain road in Sport w/ Dynamic Mode. Turn in was crisp and confidence-inspiring, and getting back on the power at the corner exit was satisfying.
The AWD is good in snow both around Denver and up at the ski resorts in the high country, and that's with the OEM all seasons.

I DD my 2013 XF AWD. I love this car. I only drive it 7 miles a day combined to work, but I want to enjoy that 6 miles. Also I do "standby" in my line of work, so I need to be able to get to my office 24/7 rain, snow, or shine. And my XF has been great! I was apprehensive at first, as most new Jag owners are. But after a bit of research, I felt much more comfortable. Plus the great thing about most luxury cars because of the service loaner availability (Cadillac excluded they treat u the same as if u own a Chevy).
The only issues I've had in 17 months is the fuel port when filling up at certain gas stations. And the factory alloy is very, very soft. I've replaced 1 wheel and had to have 2 others straightened. I try to avoid rough streets as much as possible and when I'm on rough roads I have no hesitation on throwing on the hazards and slow rolling. But in central (Piscataway/Edison area) NJ, terrible is an understatement! I've never had that issue with any other lux car I owned. Other than that, pure enjoyment!
If u are smitten by it, buy it and you always want to make sure there's a cat in your driveway!

I bought my 2009 Jaugar XF 4.2 N/A when it had 33,000 miles on it in 2012. Now it has 95,000 miles and I still drive it everyday and on long weekends I drive back and forth from North Carolina to Massachusetts. The only issues I had was bent rims that I keep straighting every time I find it.

Yes my '09 XF SC is my DD. It's relative though as I work from home when not travelling to customer sites. The car spends 3 out of 4 weeks a month in the covered parking lot at the airport. I only do about 4K miles a year and both my and my wife's car are on the lowest level of a limited mileage insurance policy
