Question about XJR6 interiors
This XJR has me puzzled. Did 95-97 models come with the steering wheel seen in the photos (which looks like the standard XJ6 model)?

Heh, that's one I am looking at ...not to hi-jack your thread, but since you linked to it, anyone please feel free to comment on your thoughts on the car.
But to answer your question, although I am no expert at this point, all the various photos of this generation XJR seem to show that both the typical black XJR interior and the standard XJ6 interiors were an option. I've seen both.
I thought I really liked the standard light colored wood/trim in the XJR, but as I look at more of them, I'm now starting to lean back toward liking the black trimmed interiors
I'm getting some old brochures sometime this week, so I hope to answer some of my own questions about options, colors, etc....
I'll see if the interior color options are covered in them clearly for the XJR.

I presume you meant to say 'steering wheel'?
Every XJR/6 I've seen had the leather/wood wheel. Same for the VDP and V12 models.
The standard XJ6 steering wheel did not have the wood.

Are you referring only to color ? I'm fairly sure that XJRs had all or most the same choices
as the other models
The biggest difference in the XJR is the sport seats, then the darker wood. Other than that, pretty much standard XJ6

I'm fairly sure that only 1997 MY had the lighter wood.
The dark wood with a black interior is terribly gloomy, IMHO.

Something doesn't seem right about the wood veneer and the steering wheel on that car. Other than that it looks pretty good. The owner took a lot of good photos which is a good thing. If I had to nitpick, it seems like the hood and grill seem misaligned in this photo which could either be a big or small problem!

On that red one, I would ask if it has the original motor and if all numbers match. Seems he had it listed on Ebay before. Jaguar XJR XJR | eBay
Here's another guy selling an XJR with a non-supercharged motor swap. Weird. Jaguar XJR Base Sedan 4 Door | eBay

I don't think the hood is misaligned. My car was just like that. The grill has just been pushed back slightly. Remove the grille and take a pair of pliers to straighten the metal tab that it screws into.
As for XJR interior wood...My XJR carfax shows a dealer replacement of my steering wheel. It was walnut and the rest of the interior was gloomy grey.
It looked stupid. So I removed and refinished the gloomy grey to match the steering wheel. Looks so much nicer now. But it was a lot of work as the X300 used a catalyzed finish which must be sanded off. Painted stripper has no affect on it as it is not the lacquer used in previous models.
In retrospect I should have just Ebayed a used walnut set for a swap.
