Hello All:

I read the many posts on this forum regarding the constant Reverse Sensor Beep. I put the car in reverse and get a constant tone. I do not get any ticking from any of the Sensors, just the tone 1st and nothing thereafter unless the car is turned off and it begins again.

I have checked all of the wiring and it appears to be fine. I have disconnected the Sensor plugs and cleaned them, and plugged in a different module but absolutely no change. The only thing I have not yet done is change the Speaker but since it is making noise I'm not sure it can be the culprit.

Appreciate any input...

 

The owners manual mentions not to spray the sensors directly with water when washing the car. This tells me they may be easily contaminated by water. You might try pulling them and see if you see any moisture.

You could also replace them one by one and see if that solves the problem.

Chafed wiring will do it to, check all the wiring runs.

As you have already eliminated:

1. Reverse Parking Aid Control Module (by exchanging)
2. Sensors (by removal)
3. Harness (by inspection)

The next possibilities are:
1. a bad ground on the Control Module
2. a bad connection or wiring fault on the Yellow lead from the Control Module to the SLCM (Security & Locking Control Module)

The module is NOT on a network so individual component testing is the way to diagnose.

It only takes one faulty sensor to disrupt the proper operation of the system.

Too much paint on a repaired bumper cover will cause this fault that is hard to detect.

Reviving this thread -- Can you check the sensors?

I always got a solid tone for a couple of seconds backing out of my driveway -- it is a bit steep. I still get the tone .. but the system is not working when I go to park .. nothing .. not even a steady tone.

It sort of stopped working correctly a few months ago -- then worked fine until last week.

Is there a weak link?

 

As 'Trusty Bob' has already stated, the ensors themselves can be the culprit...doesn't take much.

 

Doing a search I see that the sensors click when activated. One of mine is not clicking ... I guess check for bad connection first and then replace.

One more question -- Is the sensor something that must be painted -- or does it slip into the painted part visible from the face of the bumper.

 

The "face of a sensor" needs to be painted. Google the picture of the sensor - it will be obvious.

If one sensor is not clicking - swap it with one that does, this way you will know if sensor is bad or wiring.

 

Looks like you checked everything... I would check everything again in more detail:


- turn ignition on, do not start the car, put in reverse and put your ear real close to each sensor - still no clicking on any?


- check that power is supplied to each sensor connector. There are 3 pins - one is ground - check it is connected to ground. One is power supply - check that it has 12 volts, one is data to report "distance to object" back to module - check that wire is good.


If wiring is tested good and power is at each sensor - chances are the sensors are bad. It is unlikely that all died together,but possible. I would find one working sensor , connect it and hear that it clicks. If it does not - don't listen to me anymore :-)

 

O.k. Thanks to all for the input. Just for further info I had one sensor that worked intermittently, sometimes on, sometimes off (that's when I got the steady tone). Anyway, I isolated that sensor and changed it out and it works fine now. Keep in mind that the sensors may not fail entirely. Also as a follow up I now get no beep or tone at all. I suspect the speaker is blown as all of the sensors are still ticking. I will tackle this next. Never a dull moment.
