Default 2002 XJ8 Radiator Cap - replacement

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forums and have had my XJ8 for a little over two years.

This past summer I've noticed a leak from the radiator cap and I need to find replacement. Only problem is that I'm not sure it is called a radiator cap. It is a plastic cap, located at the front/top of the engine - see attached pic. I can't find a replacement.... lettering on it is: PA66-GF30, W584A, and 96JV-8A511-AC.

I took it to a local shop (non-Jaguar) and their cost to replace was pretty high (over $100). I would appreciate any help in knowing what this is called and where I can buy a replacement.

Thanks for your help.

The cap is part of the housing and I am not aware that it is sold separately. Not a bad idea to replace the housing and cap with an aluminum one anyway as they are famous for leaking. Housing and cap in aluminum is about $70 available from several Jaguar parts on-line sources.

. . . and welcome to the forum!

Hello and welcome to the forum:
I recommend Welsh Enterprises for buying the aluminum thermostat housing kit (thermostat is included with kit):

Here is the weblink:

Welsh Enterprises - New Jaguar Parts, Used Jaguar Parts and Accessories - XK120 - XK140 - XK150 - E-Type - MK - XJ6 - XJ8 - XJ - XK8 - XK - XJS - S-Type - X-Type - XF

Current price is $72.55 plus $8.25 for 1 to 3 days US Priority Mail.

Forum member Gus has a DIY he created. It is on his website - here is the weblink to his website:
http://www.jagrepair.com/Page%20Information.htm

Here is what you have to do to get to the DIY:
You need to click on this line on his webpage: Use this link to continue if you agree"Jagrepair.com Listing"
Then on the next webpage: click on Jaguar XK8 XKR 1997-2006 in the Repairs column
Then on the next webpage: move down to the Thermostat Housing under the Restricted Performance Heading and click on the Thermostat Housing string
Now you should be able to view the DIY Photos and Instructions that Gus has created.

I put an aluminum one on my engine just recently. Purchased it from motorcars ltd. It was $60 and you would probably want to replace the thermostat while you are at it.

Motorcars LTD price for the thermostat is almost $46 plus another $60 for the thermostat housing plus $11 shipping UPS 3 -5 business days. Total is $117.

I have nothing against Motorcars LTD, I think they are good.
But Welsh is just as good and a better deal at about $81 total - a difference of $36.

You might want to replace some of the cooling hoses while you are replacing the thermostat components.

You can save about 50% by buying the hoses from Rock Auto Parts.com.
There are 3 hoses you should consider replacing:

ÜRO PARTS Part # MNC4505AD Radiator Coolant Hose, Upper
ÜRO PARTS Part # MNC4515AD Radiator Coolant Hose, Lower
ÜRO PARTS Part # NCA2213AC Coolant By-Pass -- Hose Bypass Hose From Thermostat Housing
The 3 hoses cost $37.44 plus $9.70 shipping at Rock Auto and over $100 at most of the other auto parts places.
