Drivers Door Key Cylinder Issue

I've got what appears to be a common problem - Bought car used and only have one programmed key and one remote. The remote is an easy fix, as soon as I get around to ordering one. My problem is compounded a bit by the fact that the key won't turn the cylinder on the drivers door (yes only way into the car is with the remote). At first I thought there was something in the cylinder( key doesn't seem to insert quite as far as the cylinder on the trunk. After fiddling with the cylinder I'm now convinced the handle set was replaced after the car was repossessed from previous owner, despite dealer telling me otherwise, and the cylinder is fine - it's just not set to work with my key. Anyone know if there's a way to determine the keycode (code or tag maybe on the cylinder)?

Contact your local Jaguar Dealer and ask for the keycode, it's a combination of 1's and 2's. You'll probably be asked to produce/ email or fax your ownership details.
But, your key works in the ignition and boot? does it lock the glovebox too? This would point to a gummed up tumbler within the driver door lock, it might need a good dose of WD40 type spray lube and lots of trail fitting and turning the lock until you get it fully inserted.
