I have Dan Hiatt to thank(bought his used intake 3 1/2" from TB to MA and a K&N cone filter....I just took a 11' Camaro 6 spd SS/RS for a walk....
I am in utter disbelief that an intake can wake up my car like it did!
Either my car is ready to blow up, or I have the intake to credit.
(praying my engine is not ready to expire lol)
Either way, it went like this, did a rolling start from about 20mph...pulled him the whole time like I had 30 more HP than him and when he shifted(he did not powershift) I got that much more distance(we were in triple digit territory)..we both let off when it was apparent he wasn't going to make up any ground...At the next light he would not even look at me.![Smile](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Now that car, according to C&D, did a 13 flat at 111mph, Im not saying the Jag is that fast or that it could launch that well...but darn it, the blower was screaming and the car has power!![Smile](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Ok thanks, I cant stop smiling.

Do you have a lower pulley as well? Either way though, that's pretty impressive ![Smile](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Even stock the XJR should do a 14 flat quarter, and if an intake and pulley upgrade drops you into the 12's... well...
Sounds like the decision has been made for me about whether I should get my new throttle body bored out. Would be ridiculous not to!

You got rid of the bottleneck cobrahead. HUGE difference, huh?![Smile](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
http://maxbore.com/ only $225 (corrected) ! You'll be glad you did. Also make sure you grind back the inside diameter of the gasket, and ideally also port match the "elbow" between the TB and blower. You can leave it on the car if you are just doing the entrance, stuff it with a rag and/ or tape off the inside edges so no chips get past to destroy your motor, then tape a garbage bag around it, and work inside the garbage bag so all the chips don't fly around the engine bay. Just a dremel with a cylinder cutting bit would do the job. Use a good vacuum after to remove all chips, then carefully remove the stuffed in stuff and inspect, vacuum again and enjoy.
I, being the hack I am, took it off and removed lots and lots of material inside the elbow, but you would see some benefit just port matching the top, and that is much much easier. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...-inside-99281/

Is the later model 4.2 part much of an improvement, or is it best to go with a proper 90' bend?
Also, is there a recommended radius on the curve? I appreciate you might not be able to answer straight away, but if you have a rough guide that would be great.
Obviously too small a radius and you end up with a very tight bend, and too large and you won't clear the bonnet. So there must be something in the middle that works best and still fits?

I went a slightly different route. I used a semi conforming material (silicon) so it could/and does deform a little bit if the bonnet hits it. I cut one side of the 90 degree 3.5" elbow down so low I could barely get a hose clamp on the tb side. This lowered the overall height enough that I could easily close the hood without adjusting the hood latches at all. I wrapped silicon tape around the tb to make the 3.25" diameter larger to snugly fit the 3.5" elbow. Remember the air is being sucked in, so it works fine this way. If you are running really high boost (18 psi+) you may want to support the silicon elbow so it does not get sucked closed.
I don't know enough about fluid dynamics to say what the ideal radius would be, just that the smooth sweep of the parts that siliconeintakes.com sells made a large improvement for me.
Here is the part I used http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...4686accdb7e83c

60 Ft 2.104
330ft 5.864
1/8 8.952
1/8 mph 77.88
1000' 11.60
1/4 et 13.828
1/4 mph 102.32
Now I don't know if because of the cone filter there is some disruption with the MA as it definitely does not run as rich(it has never thrown codes, just going on the sniff factor)
Too I don't know what would happen if I were to use the stock air box with the 3 1/2 connection between the TB and MA.

Thank you for passing that along! It was nuts, I had two car lengths on the guy. If this is just the tip of the "iceberg", wow is all I can say...thinking just for sake of $, Gen V blower and your mods are in my future.

Our cars are beasts from a roll, the only reason they aren't a deep 13 / high 12 car out of the box is that they are severely traction limited due to the lack of a limited slip differential. Put in a posi and some drag radials and I have no doubt a 12 second slip is doable stock. For instance, your times/breakouts on that 13.8 run sound almost identical to what my old turbo Festiva used to run on street tires, high 13's in the 105 mph region with a ~2.1 60'. On slicks and suspension travel limiters where I could get my 60' down into the 1.7-1.9 second range it would run high 12's all day. I'm really curious to see what one of these cars could do with some light mods like your intake, a limited slip, and some drag radials.

Ah, but the power to weight ratios are actually very similar (235 hp/2100 lbs = 9 lbs/hp for the Festiva, 370 hp /4000 lbs = 10.54 for the XJR), as were the trap speeds (a great indication of power to weight) and ET breakouts at basically every point, a good indication that they a running very similarly. His timeslip breakout looks almost IDENTICAL to a ton I used to run in the Festiva. So you should see a similar improvement in the XJR's time if you could realize the same 60' time reduction.

I polished my TB myself, mandrel bent/powder coated 3.5" out of the TB with a longswept 90, deleted both dead ends, all the way into the stock airbox Powerhouse UK Stainless Steel Snout Pulley, deleted stock cats with high flow cats into a Borla exhaust and I have not visited a track with it. It breaths so much better.

I was able to run a 12.99 ET with only exhaust and intake mods, street tires. Should be easy to accomplish if you add a pulley.

P.S. I can sell this intake if anyone is interested.
