metal shavings under front power seat
2001 X308
Does anyone know what might be causing an accumulation of fine metal particles falling down onto the right rear mounting point of the driver's seat?
Additionally, does anyone know if it is possible to remove the trim plate of the seat controls without removing the seat cushion and cover? This is for the purpose of realigning the cover because the retaining strips were never properly pulled over the seat pan lip in the front. After installing the retaining strips, the cover is now slack on the side of the seat cushion. This is probably due to the cover being stapled to the seat control mounting bracket.

The first image shows the switchpack with the switch face plate on. From the side of the front seat - looks like you have to release the multiplug located near the rear of the switchpack and pull the face plate off with the multiplug male end intact.
The second image shows the switchpack with the switch face removed and now the tangs can be viewed and you can release the tangs to remove the switchpack.

Plus, your assumption is correct, the switchpack cup is stapled. I use a flat screwdriver to click out the tangs holding the pack to the seat. It needs a firm pull to snap it out.
To create shavings, it's a slight mis-alignment, maybe regreasing the track runner and rail.

Just to be clear ... you are able to remove the switchpack without loosening the seat cushion covering?
"firm pull" on Jaguar plastic bits ... a truly nerve wracking experience ;(
I think the particles are more than alignment because of the volume and the concentration on that one particular pylon. What lies above the right rear corner of the seat?
For a misalignment, slightly loosening the bolts on one track and running the seat back and forth might be one way to align the runners.
