Default Opinions on Coventry wheel choices

Hi all,
I think I have narrowed by wheel choices down to two from Coventry - The Whitley or the Hornet, in silver - no chrome.

I want the car to look as EOM as possible, but still look aggressive and maybe more modern than its 2001 model year. I don't like the black or gunmetal wheels and chrome it too flashy for me so I think the silver finish will suite me fine.

I appreciate all the info I got from my other wheel thread, that is what led me to Coventry. Their wheels will fit our Jags without spacers or adapters and their prices seem fair.

Any opinions on which wheel would look better on my XJR? I currently have the Pentas.

Anyone have any other suggestions in the Coventry line?

I appreciate your suggestions, thanks!

PS the Hornet this the 5 spoke wheel below, the Whitley is the other one with lotsa spokes.

It's suprising you can't configure the XJR on the Coventry website so you can see what your car may look like with the different wheels.

I would select the Whitley silver based on what you stated were your goals. I think it is a better, more upscale looking wheel.

I think the Hornets are a throwback type wheel. I think the Hornets look better on older XK's, although I'm not a fan of that wheel in general.

I have Pentas too. I have ordered Hornets to be fitted with drag radials. Size 8x17, silver.

Whitleys on an XJR
I have had these for a year, I get a lot of comments, people thinks it a much newer car than a '99 (Tires are BFG KDW2 255/40x18) they are a noisier tire but grip like glue in all weather conditions I would not recommend these tires for someone who want a silent carpet ride

Coventry does not have any XJ's available as a showcase vehicle to try wheels on.

Just seeing the pictures of the rims off the car, I would have picked the Hornets, but after seeing the Whitleys on Rogers XJR, I have to say that they look great!

Default I think I have decided.....

I was really considering the Whitleys until I saw the attached photos of the XJ's with Hornets.

I think I am going to get the Coventry Hornets in silver, chrome would be a bit too much IMHO.

I think my black XJR will look good with them. I actually like the slightly retro look they give the car.

Thanks for all the input, guys, I'll post some pics when I get them mounted.

I will probably have my set of nice Pentas for sale once the swap is done. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll put you first in line for them.

Hi Vector,
I can tell you that the Coventry wheels are made by TSW and are very good quality wheel,
they are a true hubcentric design and use the same wheel nuts as your pentas.
Make sure the washers on your wheel nuts are nice and clean, mine had a little rust on the face,so a clean up with a wire brush stops your new painted wheels from having rust particles embedded in the new paint.
