Default Part Load Breather

My 99 wouldnt start so I had it towed to the local dealer. After much cranking they got it started . They said the part load breather was clogged. Also recommended installing a new fuel filter, cleaning the fuel injectors and throttle body. They want $700 for this. Is it
necessary to have all this done at once. ? Big expense for me now. Any comments would be welcomed.
Car has 42,000 miles on it.

Fuel filter @$20; clean part-load breather - 5 minute job; fuel injector cleaner - $8; do it all yourself - all simple, save $672

Yea, if the car is starting on its own I recommend taking it home and doing the work yourself. The partload breather you can either replace for cheap, or clean it using throttle body cleaner ($5). The fuel filter is cheap and is fairly easy to swap as well, depending on your model.

The injectors you can run a bottle of techron injector cleaner ( I doubt they were going to take each injector off and have them cleaned the proper way ).

While you are at it take the time to clean your throttle body, and maf too. total cost will be around $40.

Can't vouch for the quality, but you can get a fuel filter at AutoZone for $10. Be sure to de-pressurize the system first, though. The rest of it is pretty simple. You can download a step-by-step of the throttle body/part load breather/MAFS cleaning here:

Even if you needed a new part load breather hose, that's $35-$40, though a little more involved to replace (30 minutes instead of 5 minutes). I'm rarely shocked by dealer prices, but $700? Wow!

$700 owch!! Are they taking the engine out, in order to do this on the bench?

And here is another link to the same document.

The factory-installed fuel filter on my XJR was a GM part (!) I have used Napa Gold replacements since - work fine. Techron is great stuff - nice link on the throttle body, guys - thanks!
