For Sale 2000 XJR w/60k milage
2000 xjr purchased from 1st owner w/50k garaged car pristine. Has 4 new tires, new pads and rotors, new steering pump, and now new front and rear shocks. XJR has comment stopping Deep Red exterior paint w/Oatmeal interior ! The reason i'm listing all info I have to agree w/senior advisor this car is too expensive up keep for a retired senior with only soc sec and no mechanical skills. That being said I 'm going to have to sell a car I really love but finances dictate I must!
What are my best avenues to get the best value for my baby actual current odometer reading 60,122 miles..................
..I'm in South Florida USA........I appreciate all your comments and advice....Hal Johnson
Actual model, color, and wheels - New exterior and interior pics being processed[

FYI, I just had my pristine, 75K, garage kept, like new everywhere with some tasteful and necessary upgrades 2001 XJR appraised for an insurance "agreed value" policy and it came in at $12,000.
The specialty dealer who did the appraisal for me said that good looking, well cared for, low mileage XJR's were very difficult to find right now. Although demand is not high for our cars there are folks out there looking for them.
Put it on this forum's Member for sale section at a decent price with good photos and specifications and be patient. It will show up in a Google search nationwide if you title it "2000 XJR for sale."
Craig's list will get you tons of low ballers and snide comments from idiots. Dealers will offer you $4000 for it.
There are also a lot of Jags in South Florida, so competition with less spectacular cars will be steep in your area.
The problem is that most of these cars have had expensive maintenance deferred by owners who didn't care or couldn't afford it and they dump them for next to nothing when a major issue comes up. It is not unusual to see a car like yours or mine for sale for $2500 needing thousands in repair work to be roadworthy and safe.
Have you done the timing tensioner, water pump and throttle body upgrades? If not, be prepared to take a lot less than you could get if these things had been done.

Some of that work may not be necessary on a 03 XJR -- depends on the date of the engine build.
But here's the real issue: why sell it? It has low mileage, new parts including tires and brakes. Even if you got premium dollar for the car ($12000), what could you buy for $12,000 that would be as good as this car, as capable transportation, needs limited amount of work? Or makes you feel as good?
And you can be sure that whatever you bought would need new tires, new brakes, new shocks, battery, probably a tuneup, water pumps.
Mine is not as near as nice as yours, and it's older, so I've been looking around. Can't find anything worth owning without a car payment. I get out of the car, start looking at used car lot, get shocked by the high mileage and high price of high-end cars, look back and realize that my jag is the best car in the lot.
But then again, at 72, I can still do most of the work to keep it running good. And, within limits, can afford the repairs I can't do.

guessing it was one of the electical motors or fans. They are not all that expensive to kee running. Just keep plugging away at the routine maint. I'd buy yours in an instant if I was in need, hate that my 03 is now over 100k.

EvilBay may be your best bet. Craigslist will get you low-ballers and scammers. Generally, I find forums are not a great place to sell because most of the audience already has one.
Just for reference, about 4 years ago I bought my late 2001 XJR (Mercedes tranny and non-nikasol engine) with just over 40k miles on it. It too was a one owner car in pristine condition, although no record of the tensioner or water pump update being completed. I bought it from a new car dealer who took it in on trade. With tax, title, and tags I was out the door for $13,500. As others have mentioned, complete service records are a big plus on any high-end vehicle.
I now have about 80k miles on mine and it remains in great shape. Overall, it has been trouble-free. (Try an Alfa 164 if you really want to put your mechanics kids through college). The most expensive repair was having the fuel pumps replaced by the dealer, without looking I think that was close to $1,500. Other work I did on my own includes the tensioner update, water pump update, control arm bushing, and the AC compressor. Other than that, minor bits like a new fuel cap. I am certainly into it for far less than I would have for even a late model Honda.
Yes, there will be costs and those will be higher if you don't turn your own wrenches. Still, keep in mind the real costs of whatever you plan to replace it with.

Your Jag is worth no less than $7500.00 on Ebay. Craigslist is a terrible place to sell a car. You would do well to take 40 pictures of everything and a video inside the car of you flooring it to 90mph.

It is not meant to sell to forum members, but make it easy for buyers looking for an XJR to find it when they search.
Craig's and the 'Bay are going to get you low offers, but if someone is looking for a nice XJR, a properly titled post on this forum will help them find you.
