Sunroof sliders
I have seen some notes on sun roofs and have experienced the issue with the tilt function and the trim slider arms becoming disengaged and inhibiting the tilt.
While neither the arms have broken, yet, nor the pivot points, and can put them back into location and it works, but it seems they have a habit of becoming disengaged some short time later. 2x in last month.
Any ideas on what should retain them?
If the rear trim slider sticks, does that cause the issue?

I pull the sliding roof off, disengage the pivoting arms and point them straight up. I then get some pliers and bend the fulcrum pin towards the rear. If you try to bend the arms themselves you will probably snap the cast metal arm. If you bend the steel fulcrum pin you will have better luck as the steel pin is more malleable.
I only bend them enough to get the arm located in the plastic trim slider far enough to ensure they stay.
This has worked for me dozens of times.

Sunrrof solution #1
Rather thnan remove the sunroof, I thought I would try and fashion a way to positively hold the armes in place. I think I have succeeded for the moment and would appreciate any insight or observations as to why the solution would not be good long term.
I bent up a strip of thin spring steel I had from something in the junk drawer, certainly quite thin and about 5mm wide, but springy, so will hold its shape. The clips into place on the arm and over the bracket and the 'detent' is under the head of the pin on the other side. Those that have the problem will know it.
Seems to hold it in for now, opens and closes fine both ways.
If you have any suggestions or cautions, please let me know.

Do you think that the lack of these clips are what is making my sunroof suck? I got the whole thing working last week with some wiring and a new sunroof controller. It pops up fine and comes down and slides back great. The problem is that when you move back forward with it, the rear part of the sunroof "cover" inside will get crooked or stay back in the roof. This is no good. I am not sure of how it attaches and I sure dont want to drop the headliner. I am going to study this thread some more, but I am hoping there are good pics of how this rear, cloth-covered piece attaches. Thanks in advance!

I have not successfully removed the inner liner, but I read it does come out from the outside when the roof is open.
The clips are NOT standard issue, but mine have been in there 6 months now, arms have not come off since and used to come off each second opening.
