X308 under bonnet tool kit - an Idea!
I want to use that tool compartment in the engine bay.
I know there were tool kits offered in the UK for our cars.
I've been trying to find one. It looks like this:
Every time I find one, it is usually on eBay UK and sells for a lot more than I want to pay for one.
I have an idea to use gun case foam or closed cell foam and make a custom tool holder for this tool compartment.
This is gun case foam:
I've got a set of Craftsman Professional tools that I used to have displayed in my show car's trunk.
Once I get the foam, I will make nice clean cutouts for each tool.
This is where it will be fun; getting to decide exactly which tools to carry.
Also, since we don't have to carry extra light bulbs like they do in the UK, I will have a little more room for tools
I will post up some pics when I get done.
If it turns out nice, and you would like to make one for your Jaguar,
I will also post up the contact info for a very nice gentleman who sells custom cut foam for MANY applications.

Got the foam today.
Started modifying the gun case foam.
This first attempt, using the open cell gun case foam will be my template.
Have installed only a tire pressure gauge so far:
I think I am going to get a Jaguar flashlight next.
Once I get all of the tools & gadgets sorted out, I will cut the closed cell foam.
It is thicker and will last longer than the gun case foam.
Also, I do have a full tool kit for the Jaguar that I keep in the trunk.
The net hook holds it in place just fine.
I think I can make better use of this compartment than the UK tool kit.
I don't need the bulbs, and let's face it, the tools included in the kit are marginal at best,
AND not really the best and most complete set.
I've got multiple pliers, screw drivers, adjustable wrenches, open end wrenches, and a full socket set in the bag.

The X308 is now a classic car. The value of a classic car is improved (or saved) if it's as genuine as it was when it was new (I am sure most of the Jag fans know that). Having posh accessories (golden leapers, fake Brembos,stickers,etc...) in a classic car is like having a banana in the trouser's pocket. I seen a XJR 100 in my country, wrapped in carbon fiber like foil, this being in my top of anti-Jag owners.
I am not a reach guy, but I can accept to pay as much as possible for a genuine tool kit, even if the real tools are in the trunk.

Okay, so I was wrong...
So today, while vacationing in beautiful Southern California, I bought a gorgeous Jaguar X308 Tool Kit!
Pics to follow when I receive it.
It looks unused.
The kit is missing a small wrench (aka spanner), but that's okay, I think I can find one on eBay UK.
