Default 2004 VDP Engine Malfuction light fixed by Car Wash

My perfectly operating 2004 VDP had suddenly displayed the Engine Malfunction Light while while diriving this weekend. The vehicle was operating perfectly. In the midwest the temperature had swung from 44 F down to 11 F and back up into the 30's F over the weekend. The light continued to be illumniate when I took it for a test drive and I found nothing, so I took it to the Car Wash. Why not? After the car went through the Car Wash, I got in and started it and then found Engine Mallfuction light "Not" illuminated. Hasn't been on since. The Car Wash fixed my car and made it look good!

Is it common for a Car Wash to fix a Jaguar XJ? I'm not complaining.

Orobably not but then again, i wouldn't be in business if car washes did turn off engine lights! If i were to guess, there could be a code stored for a t/stat. P0128. Jag cannot seem to make a long lasting t/stat. My 97 VDP needs another one but it doesn't have the capabilities to flag a fault like yours. get a code check somewhere and see what it was.

Default excellent suggestion

I was suspecting something temperture related and I needed a wash, so what the heck...run it through a nice warm car wash. I thought it was kind of funny, since most of the XJ issues seem to revolve around air ride.

I am sure the light will return, but I really like the car wash solution. I also suspected that was why alot of dealers wash your car after service.

I'm planning to get a scanner and really solve the problem. Thank you

A carwash fixing a fault would be pretty far-fetched to most people, but to me, it's for real. My '03 Chevy "SnailPacer" had a 500 rpm tick, and a belt sqweak, both of which completely disappeared after an engine compartment detail job last year!

Nice color on the VDP. Is that Slate?
Regarding the car wash could it have been a faulty sensor that once it got water sprayed on it resolved it?
