Default Myrtle Ltd Full Wooden Steering Wheel

Just ordered the full walnut steering wheel from Myrtle Ltd. Been wanting one of these for a long time, and finally pulled the trigger. I'll update with pics when received.

The site only show the steering wheel for the X308, your 05 is a X350/X358 chassis. Have you check to make sure it will fit? I think the airbags are different even if it does bolt up the the steering column.

I finally received the steering wheel and it is BEAUTIFUL. It's a little thicker and heavier than the standard Jag wheel, so it has a nice feel to it. Definitely changes the driving experience. The grain is amazing and the stain seems to change hues depending on lighting.

Installation was very straightforward. It doesn't come with any of the electronics, so you have to remove them from your old wheel and switch them over to the new one. It seems complicated at first, but its basically just undoing a few torx screws here and there. The only con I can see is that you will lose the heating function if your car has that option. Its unfortunate, but I can definitely live without it.

In my opinion, this wheel is MUCH nicer (and cheaper) than the full wooden OEM wheel that Jaguar offers. It's such an amazing upgrade to an already amazing interior. Feels like I'm driving a Rolls or something. Highly recommended.

Man that looks GREAT! It surely enhances the interior of the Jaguar.

Make sure you're ordering the more expensive genuine real solid or veneer wood wheel or you will get the ugly painted simulated fake grain type.

You can tell the difference by the grain and the low price.

I'm noticing most wheels on XJs are simulated wood wheels. Jaguar ordering has an option for wood wheel.
Steering wheels on Super 8s have a totally different grain. Others have what appears to be a linear black like spray colored line within the grain. This does not appear to be a natural grain layout.
Are other Owners noticing this or is it just me?

The steerring wheels that come from Myrtle Ltd. are real wood.

Guess again the £299 low price version are simulated wood.

Check with Myrtle so you are not disappointed. The veneers and solid wood wheels are considerably more money.

Whether its "real" wood or not, it certainly looks and feels nicer, and costs less than the OEM Jaguar full wooden steering wheel.

IF it makes you happy, that's all that matters. When I restored my 86 VDP I bought all my interior wood from them including the steering wheel as an upgrade. Cost far more than I recouped but while I had it, I marveled at the beauty of a nice burl every day.

I cannot believe I forgot to ask this. XJ8JR, what did you do with the original steering wheel?

XJ8JR, I noticed in one of your photos that you have some aluminum pedal covers. Where are they from?

I've still got it. Haven't decided if I'm going to sell it or not.

I got those about a year ago on ebay. They're an aftermarket set from taiwan. For $30, they're actually very nice. They're about a 1/4" thick, nice brushed aluminium, with the Jaguar logo etched on them. The rubber nibs on the backing are very sturdy as well. Includes all the installation hardware.

Well if you decide to sell it and it's in good condition, leather and wood not faded, I would be interested in it.
