Default Phone trouble

Hello,

I recently installed a PSE and bluetooth module (both are of the correct, and updated serial number range). I installed the external microphone also. I then put the head unit in discoverable mode, and was able to easily pair my iPhone with the system.

I could use the system to make calls, however, no one can hear me talking! I can hear everyone just fine over the cars speakers, but no matter what I do, I can not be heard! I have done a hard re-set on the system (disconnecting the battery and letting it sit for 15 min), paired and unpaired the phone, tried another iPhone, and nothing seems to work. I have checked all of the connections and everything is correct.

Any ideas? Defective microphone?

Thanks for the anticipated help.

Chris

cjaekl,

I hope someone else will chime in as I have the same problem as you. I am bringing the car in on friday to have it reprogrammed to get rid of the CONFIG B error that I've been getting since I added the phone module a few weeks ago and I hope that will cure the microphone problem.

You need to install a 3 pin bridge on the voice module connector. You can get the bridge part from jaguar or build one yourself. Originally the microphone goes to the voice module, then to the PSE. if you don't have the voice module fitted, you need to bridge the pins.

Default Phone not working

I dont have a voice control module fitted. How would I go about buying/installing the bridge that you are referring to?

Thanks,
Chris

a) go to the parts department in a Jaguar dealer, tell them what you need - the cost was about $30
b) get electrical diagram, short the pins yourself. I don't have one handy, I remember it was 3 cables that needed to be shorted.

Went and talked with the parts guy at the local Jag dealer yesterday. He had absolutely no idea what I was talking about when I asked for a 3 pin bridge. I explained the problem I was having, and he still had no idea. Their thoughts are that my microphone is defective. Looks like I'll have to buy a new one and see how that goes.

cjaekl,

Your mike is fine the part number for the bridge is XR843781. I picked mine up from the dealer last week and it fixed the problem we both had. I paid $50 with tax for it but I just looked on http://www.gaudinjaguarparts.com and they have it for $27.28 plus shipping so if you want to save some money go through them instead of your dealer parts dept, when you put in the part number its listed as lead link. The only problem that I am getting now is a CONFIG B message on the dash 9/10 times when I start the car. The dealer tried reprogramming the car but they said they couldn't get the phone module to flash, but that was before I added the bridge to fix the mike so maybe they could program it now?

Good Luck,

Mat

Bump... anybody know why they wouldn't be able to reprogram the car?

Thanks,

Mat

I think there are several revisions of the PSE module - inticated by the last two letters (AB, AC, AE, BA, etc.). Some old revisions are not compatible with the blutooth module for some reason.

I think I have revision AE and it works, yours may be too old. Unfortunately the fix is to get a new-er PSE.

The Jag diag software is a bit funky. There is a thread about it in the general tech area (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=32683).

veffremov,

The PSE module is a newer revision and the entire system works fine. I can make a receive calls and my phone is linked up to the car fine I just keep getting a CONFIG B error message on the dash.

Thanks,

Mat
