[Help] How to verify if it is XJL or XJ and HP
Hi All, Im looking into getting my very first Jaguar and I am eyeing a used XJL. However due to the numerous engine options, may I know how can I verify if its the 385HP, 470HP or the 510HP version ? VIN: SAJAC28R4CMV38418
Also is this the XJ L version ?

XJ and XJL simply designate standard wheelbase (XJ) and long wheelbase (XJL) XJs and is affixed to all XJs. This may indicate the dealer may not be aware of the details. Also, if these are pictured of the actual car then the wheels have been changed, but that should be not a deal beaker. .

Right behind the front wheels on the quarter panel there is the metallic vent (actually fake vent) that will say supercharged or supersport. IIRC the supersport had 510HP while the supercharged had 470HP.
Personally I would suggest getting a 2015 or newer. There are many things that were updated since 2012. If you buy this one make sure it has latest water pump, check the sunroof works, make sure the timing chains aren’t rattling, and change oil frequently (ie every 5-7.5k miles).
Look forward to welcoming you as an owner.

Thanks for the help guys. I had a look at the car last friday. Oh my it is one of the most beautiful car I have ever been in.and it's amazing how it holds up although being 8 years old. Here are some observations:
Pros
- interior looks clean and amazingly new with smell of leather
- headliner is full leather
- paint on body looks good
- engine is smooth with no signs of micro vibrations
on steering wheel and cabin
- engine is powerful and not sluggish
- transmission seems smooth
- no clunking sound over bumps- no error shown on dash - need to use scanner to find out more
- no smell of exhaust fumes or burning smell when flooring the car
- sunroof works well
- Speaker sounds amazing
- No oil or coolant leak detected + have not brought to workshop
Cons
- small hairline crack on rear right tail light
- sunroof car Frame rusted with blisters
- ride feels stiff - I could feel lots of bumps from the road - normal ? Shock or Bushing wear ?
- headlight edges had some black sealant
- turn signal shifter icons wear off
- Wheels don't really look suitable with the car. Stock looks better
- passenger overhead mirror seems loose. When it's let down doesn't seem to open and stay firmly. Spring issue ? Should it be that way ?
Dealer is asking for USD $33k. What do you guys think ? What else should I be checking ? What would be a fair price ?
The dealer mentioned that he could give a discount if I would settle everything on my own.

Hi, I'm from Singapore. The car look's good. I own a supersport for two years and going to sell it away this weekend.
The pricing level in each country is very different especially in US which the car so much cheaper compare to Malaysia and Singapore.
I bought mine at SGD103,000 two years ago. My car is 2010 model. Dealer will taking my car now for $5000 for the body and export it out to other country. USD33K loook like very good value if in Singapore.
I think Malaysia is selling close to RM 1M when brand new.
