2004 XJR 130K Miles - Playing with fire?
I'm considering a 2004 XJR 130K miles for 6.5K
Fully loaded, tv's, all the toys. I work from home and almost never drive - so this would be something fun to go to the store in, etc.
However, I don't want the 6k to turn into 20K fixing potential issues. Any insight is much appreciated on the reliability.

That's the earlier version so you might get a better answer on that forum.
But I had a 2005 STR which has the same drive train. No real problems but the 4.2L SC V-8 has a rubber hose running under the super charger. Make sure this has been replaced!
The hose is only about $20 but it will be a multi-thousand dollar repair at the dealer because of all that needs to come off. The cooling system has 22 or 24 hoses and by now they all need to be replaced. None are real expensive but again unless you can DIY it will be expensive at a dealer. Don't wait for them to leak because they will go out one at a time and you will have to repeat much of the work!
On that model you have air suspension which is trouble prone but I have no experience with it since my STR did not have that.
Again the biggest thing to think about is you MUST DIY or it just will be too expensive. They are good reliable cars but an expensive luxury car does not get cheaper to repair with age!

If you look in theX350 forum look under "Things to watch out for" or something close to that.
If you have access to maintenance records that would help a lot. As clubairth1 states DIY is a must with these cars.
130k is fine so long as maintenance has been carried out as it should have been.
