2011 SC XJL Water Pump Job
Sorry folks! I posted this in the regional area by mistake. If you see this twice, disregard the regional post. Yes, I'm new here! Need to get up to speed...
Anyway....
Has anyone performed this on a 2011 XJL Supercharged? Considering doing this myself. RockAuto has the pump for about $85. Note: engine has been emitting a "metal on metal" sound for a little while now. Took a look at pulley and watched it quickly shift (lean forward) and shift back while spinning. I thought I was seeing things until I watched it do it again 20 seconds later! No overheating but very slight smell. I've got about 65K miles on the car so out of warranty. Any use in calling Jag Corporate? I hear the service can be over $1,800!!!

mmjjag,
Welcome to the forum! You'll find lots of knowledgeable and helpful members here. Get to learn the search function and find the answers to many of your questions.
If you purchased your 2011 XJL SC new and have had it serviced at the dealer by the book then I would ask your dealer to help you get some assistance from Jaguar Corporate, even though you're out of warranty. If you don't ask, you don't get. Loyalty should work both ways.
If you bought it used from a non-Jaguar dealer seller, then I wouldn't waste my time even though the water pump is a known issue to Jaguar Corporate. Since it hasn't risen to the level of a recall, they'll probably decline to help. Also, at a cost of only $85 plus your own labor, you're not out of pocket very much so assistance from Jaguar Corporate really isn't that important.

If you end up wanting to DIY, this thread might help: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...cement-145505/
It's for the XF not the XJ, but the 5.0 litre S/C motor is the same in both.
