2012 XJL Portfolio 70 k
Wondering if anyone has this issue or can add some thoughts Thanks in advance !!
. I would love to do this, but lately can't find the time
My vehicle is not blowing cold air at idle. If you get up to highway speeds it will blow cold. Took it to a local mechanic. He mentions they should be serviced at 50k I have 70k. He tried vac and recharge it did not help. Pressures on the low sign were approx 50 but would drop to what he stated was normal range 35-40 when the compressor kicked on, High side was approx 250, He stated the compressor was weak and changing compressor was the answer. I was unable to leave the car at the time. and still trying to find the time to get back. I was told by a friend to try a hose down the condense coil which I did and the AC seems to get cold at idle but did not last long. he said it might be the condenser coil
Mechanic wanted 1200 to change out the compressor
Thanks

Thanks, I will read them over now.
Is this like recall, or just a service bulletin noting issues
Probably will not be able to due, just have no time
I called the local auto zone a few weeks ago, the compressor was 3-350 out the door plus filter dryer lets call it a total of 400
I was hoping to have it replace for 800-900
Thanks

The only thing that lights up is the red hazard button,
Pulled the control panel all LED looks like you have to replace the whole control panel.
AC and all the controls work.
Just sometimes you don't know if you push the AC button in the winter running the compressor
Not easy to find and the dealer wants a lot
Can I soder new led in LOL

Vortac you need to be sure which compressor you have as there was at least 2 different ones and there is a great cost difference. The way you can tell is that the less expensive compressor uses a clutch on the pully to engage and disengage the compressor. The compressor that always is engaged is the more expensive unit, but I would, highly, suggest you buy the tsb recommended part as it worked for me with the identical issue and costs much less.
