2012 Paddle Shift behavior
Hello All -
In my 2012 XJL (V8) the paddle shifters are disabled in D. I have a 2016 XF where the shifters are enabled in D, and I would like to get the XJ to behave the same - as the downshift shift control is handy periodically in the hills but I don't want the more aggressive shifting of the S mode. Can the programming be adjusted on the XJ so that the XF behave the same?
I did see a similar thread from 2012 with the XF (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-s-mode-59020/), so I am hopeful that this could be done.
Thx!

Do you have the menu option shown in Stuart's post linked below?

My 2010 has that menu, but the other thread suggests some (US spec?) vehicles do not.
It is certainly something which can be changed through CCF programming, and it may be that the UI is also configured in the same way.

The dealer might not be able to do what you want. Your 2012 has the 6-speed transmission and it might not support paddle shifting in D, but I don't know for sure. The 8-speed was introduced in 2013 with paddle shifting in D as described above.

I have a 2012 5.0 SC that has the same trans as the 5.0 so it wouldn't be the trans that would not be able to do it. It has to be the software. Mine can use the paddles in D anytime I want.

Thats great news, glad the dealer did not let policy get in the way, i find manual down shifts in D convenient as opposed to relying on kickdown by having to floor it, getting the revs up before you accelerate helps with boost pressure so you can move as needed when you depress the go pedal.....enjoy

I have a 2012 Jaguar NA V8, and my paddle shifters work in drive. I would like to do the opposite of you though. I would like for them NOT to work in drive. I don't want to use paddle shifters, and occasionally, I accidentally hit the paddle shifter. After doing it a couple times, and having to wait until it exited manual mode, I looked up how to disable it right away if you accidentally hit it. Now that I know how, it isn't worth it for me to go to the dealer to get it disabled.

I am in the UAE. I imagine that different regions have different defaults and options. Just like my car has 18 inch wheels, and according to the door panel label, an option to put 19 or 20 inch instead. From internet searches on western-country centric websites, it appears they won't come with 18 inch anywhere else. Also, GCC spec cars require the warning when you exceed 120kph(even though the most common speed limit in Abu Dhabi has been 140kph for a while now). Also, supposedly, GCC spec cars have better cooling and air conditioning systems.

Could you post a picture of the door panel label and/or give the dimensions front and rear plus load and speed index?
Could be useful for winter tyres...
Many thanks !
