My start stop button has a crack . probably from Honny using her finger nail
I was able to remove the switch . Fairly easy ,Silver bezzle twisted off and carefully pry out than Unplug harness. Glad it has no side clips
Question can you just replace the plastic start stop portion. I was able to take the switch apart and remove, the plastic start stop portion
Does someone know
Or am i stuck having to replace the whole switch.
If it is the whole switch is the only option
does it automatically recognize the key of is it program. There is a clip inside is spring loaded. Do you swap
Thanks Chris

The start/stop switch has nothing to do with the key, it is just a switch with an LED in it. You can either replace the entire assembly (as it is sold) or swap parts over if you want - it makes no difference.
Note that the connector changed around 2013, so you probably have the earlier kind. Compare photos if buying used, or PM me your VIN and I will give you the OEM part number you need for your car.

Chris, while this isn't as cheap as you may be wanting, here is the OEM switch for a little less than you are finding.

I would also give Gaudin Jaguar in Las Vegas a call. Tell them that you were referred by this site and they should be able to help you out. They are a sponsor here and have helped out a lot of members and I have personally used them with good results.

I ordered the part from the link you forwarded.
Part # C2D4509
Gabbie Texas
OEM Jaguar, Land Rover and BMW Rplacement Parts
Paid $109.00 delivered
Gaudin Dealer Las vegas did do anything In fact they were more expensive
