Default 2013 v6 xj thoughts on the engine ,start stop, and softened suspension

Has anyone driven the 2013 which are now on dealer lots. What are your impressions versus the 2012. I have a 2012 xjl and like the v8 and firmer ride. Are the roofs still popping on the 2013's?

Ok.. Went for a test drive today...
I was standing behind when the salesman started it up and my first thought was that it sounded like a Honda..
My wife actually did the test driving (we're buying for her) and she HATED it.. she is by no means a 'car' person but she said as soon as she stepped on the pedal, she could tell it was underpowered.. From the back seat it seemed like it had decent power, but the sound of the screaming engine was unpleasant and very "un-Jaguar" ..
She said she would not buy it, period.. going back in the morning for a nice deal on a 2012 V8

I was wondering about the V6 in an XJL. Of course it is a trend due to the tightening of the fuel economy standards. But, as long as the V8 is available, it is but one of the purchase options.

I suspect that the time will come when most of the large sedans, such as the XJL, will only be available with 4 bangers, supercharged, turbocharged, hybrid, what ever. So, enjoy the V8 while you can...

Man... and I'm here dreaming about Jaguar bringing back their V-12 cars... I'll keep dreaming. V-6, start stop... who wants that in a XJ??... Lame.

Can you imagine how wonderful the torque of a V-12 XJ-L with 5 speeds would feel? That would be THE Jaguar XJ to have.

5 speeds?! At least say 6...

A big V12 would really be an ultimate Jaguar engine... even a V10...

Alas, all we can do is dream, fellas. After Nov. 6 our fate is sealed. We will only have what the EPA will let us have. That means more and more V6's and I4's........and hybrids, YUK!

Depressing.......

Why should we assume that the EPA is God? I will vote with my wallet. If the future is all about 1,000cc engines in "smart/mini sized" cars, I'll move somewhere else where cars are normal sized. There is a *lot* of oil everywhere, this whole scarcity mentality is a hoax IMHO. In fact, some dare to say that oil is in fact a renewable resource that is created by the hot temperatures of our earth's core, not some fossil made goo that our history books conveniently taught us. But that's not for me to say or judge, and it's off topic and it gets political.

As for 5 speed instead of 6, I just said that because that's what the V-12 Mercs have, because the torque is so huge that current 6 speed transmissions can't handle it. And really, those who buy these cars are not concerned about saving $20 on every fill up.

I'd buy a new XJ-L with a V-12 engine in a heart beat. That would be a GEM. And I would keep the car for decades.

They influential enough to make a difference in everyone's lives as they have and nobody can do a thing about it. They got everyone believing in Global Warming crap already.

Where would you move? Everywhere else in the world, small cars are already the norm.
