2014 XJ Supercharged Oil Drain Valve Installation
About 3 months ago I mentioned that the 5.0 actually has an oil drain plug on the engine oil pan. I took a photo with the under tray off. I had dropped the tray to clean up coolant left over from a coolant leak.
One of the replies suggested installing a Fumoto F106SX M14-1.5 thread engine oil drain valve. fumotousa.com 1-800-918-3406. I bought one , but waited to install it during my next oil change. I installed the valve about a week ago and cut a 5" diameter hole in the under tray so that I can drain the oil without pulling the undertray or sucking the oil through the tube accessible through the oil filler cap. I was going to just post an update to the original thread, but I can't find the original thread.
Photos show the installation. I also attached a sketch of where to place the centerline for the access hole. The dimensions listed are where I would have placed the hole, "
Photo shows the 5" diameter hole cut in the undertray with the tray removed.
Photo of the undertray installed. As you can see I should have placed the hole about 2" further right and about 2"-3" further toward the rear to center the valve in the hole.

The dimensions for where I should have placed the hole in the under tray.
Photo of Fumoto valve. You can push a short length of hose over the end to drain the oil and keep it out of the undertray.
View of factory oil pan drain plug
Both sections of the undertray removed. Only the rear section needs to be removed to cut the hole. You can see the centerline fore and aft that you need to measure from
I took a Majic Marker and marked the edge of the overlap so that I could measure aft from that line when placing the hole.
hindsight being 20/20"
