Default 2014 xj/XJR Grill color

Has anyone blacked out/ and or replaced the main grill surround and lower air intake surrounds (both Chrome color on the XJR) with a wrap or a dip or paint? I do not like the Chrome color and looking to black it out. Thanks

Thanks, that looks great. Mine is a XJR as well. Where did you get the black lower grill inserts and grill surround from?

thank you! I really love the blacked out look also. You could use vinyl or have it sprayed. Mine are painted.

Ktmracing, what did you do to dechrome the window surrounds? Wrap, plastidip or spray painted? I'm thinking of blacking these out but would like it reversible and yet look good.

I got a new upper and lower grill from Mina, wrapped chrome window trim, and had the side vents professionally sprayed with a wrap type material.

did you guys use Blackout Tape or something better or more professional? ive used that in the past, and the look was fine except for the curve at the rear, the best i could ever do was overlapping 2 different strips, and didnt like how you could see the seam.
i also think i want a gloss black instead of satin black, and Blackout Tape wont work for that.

edit: it looks like there are a lot of options out there now since i last did this almost 10 years ago, such as this one i found: https://www.rvinyl.com/Black-Vinyl-Film-Wraps.htm

I had mine done professionally and they used Avery Satin black.

I purchased a replacement upper and lower grille online and had the chrome trim on the sides of the car professionally wrapped as well. I like the idea of removing it when I am ready
