Question 2014 XJL Portfolio AWD rear tow ring

The dealership had to drop my rear bumper in order to effect a repair on one of the rear parking sensors. I noticed for the first time a "ring" next to my rear left exhaust pipe. I had not noticed it before. I took the car into the dealership and was advised by a Service Advisor that the "ring" was the rear tow ring. I'm wondering if when they dropped the bumper somehow this became visible and they were supposed to do "something" so it would not be visible. I have not seen any pictures of my model and year car showing a visible rear "tow ring." Thoughts?

Thanks ever so much for the link ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...w-hook-190933/ ) to the prior posts. Why the Jag Service Advisor was not "up on that" and arranged to have it removed is beyond me. My original Jag dealership, "Jaguar of Novi," (which was a dedicated Jaguar dealership here in southeast Michigan) went out of business. That's where I purchased my 2005 XJ8L. Their remaining inventory and customer database was purchased by Land Rover of Farmington Hills, which became "Jaguar Land Rover Farmington Hills." I'm thinking that perhaps unless some Jaguar staff came over to the dealership, they're still learning on the fly (after what, 3 years?) I tried to remove it and it's in there good. I'll spray a little WD-40 to loosen it up and try to remove. Again, thanks much for the help.
Wow, it took a lot; had to soak it in WD-40; used two different wrenches, but if finally came out and off!

Did you read that thread? Look at the attachment I posted.
It's NOT a rear tow hook. It a rear tie down for shipping the car from the factory and Jaguar pre-deliver states it should be removed.
The customer is NOT suppose to have it. Look at the angle it screws in and then look at the one in the front. It not positioned correctly as a recovery eye anyway.
Jaguar issued that bulletin because damage to the car is likely when trying to tow with it.
Took a while for all the details to come to light!

Yes, I read the posts from the thread(s) you sent. I used the wrong terminology. I clearly understood what was stated, which is why I removed the "tie down" hook. As you'll note in my response, the Service Advisor at the dealership referred to it as a "tow hook." As a result of my reading the threads I realized that is not what it was which is why I removed it.
