Yes, you must remove (3 torx screws) the trunk finisher, then pull back your respective side and undo the 4 nuts. Make sure your washers don't get lost and then unclip the harness retainer (fir tree clip), then unclip the harness. Reverse to install. I'm not joking when I say it took me 20 minutes for both, going in blind. But, I started my career in industrial maintenance and repair.

Well I don't see any relays and it is NOT a plug and play modification?
If you plan on installing the LED's in your 2012 you MUST build the wire harness as was posted above. So that might get you the plugs
that fit into the lights but you will still need to build the relays into the correct wires.
I can't really tell from the pictures because they have the wire harness all wadded up.
See if he will lay it all out and take another picture?

weird, i checked it twice and works for me. Try searching: www.headlight-headlamp.com
I have not made any enquiries with this supplier, so it will need to be followed up on, while stating plug n play I am still curious as to any further changes to the existing electrics in pre 2016 X351 eg: relays etc.

I love this thread, and i will get this done with a little time, alas i am a pretty picky individual and have a great mind and ability for diy. The cracked and lowly offerings that are affordable on ebay just are not doing it for me, yeah i can make them work, but i am not really known for compromising in my wants. I am going to put this off unless i can find two j blades at a price i cannot afford to go past. So am going to go the way with my coin and spoil my new to me cat with some Mina under bonnet and exhaust options instead of the same budget just on a set of headlamps.

Lightspeed it is a great mod and I love my 2014 XJR with it but I think there are some errors in the parts your listing?
The harness you link from headlights.com has a picture of the harness;
This will NOT work! Again you must build your harness with 3 additional relays for each light to make it work.
The other method is to keep the stock plugs and wiring and internally modified the LED lights.
But your link implies all you need is this harness and a pair of stock LED headlights.
I think you should verify that this will work before you spend any money. At least have a money back guarantee if it does not work.

This is amazing.
couple of questions:
1. Do I need to remove the bumper? (I can’t seem to find info about this)
2. What’s the best place to buy genuine headlights? I can only find the right side on eBay. Can I buy a set of two somewhere else?
I’ll be following method two once I get the car 🤪
