2016+ XJ chrome/silver interior accents made of metal or plastic...?
Are the chrome/silver colored accents in the interior cabin made of metal or plastic...?
For example - the chrome/silver colored surround in front of the armrest/storage...
The accents around the air vents, control knobs, etc...
Thanks!

The best way to find out, get inside the car and tap/knock on it. Do a test: Tap/Knock on your desktop computer, the metal portion (frame) and the plastic portion (front/face) you can tell the distinction, feel and sound when you tap/knock on it. If you're not using a desktop, go to the front of your car and tap or knock at the bumper (plastic) and the hood or the side panel (steel). Modern Jags body and frame are made of aluminum same feel and sound as steel if you tap on it.

Pretty much all plastic with a chrome coating. Most likely due to cost/weight savings I would guess. No real advantage to metal in those areas.
I have had most of the "chrome" out of the dash and console so far.
Some pics of those pieces can be found starting here.
I am about halfway through my purge of the decorative chrome. Still some on the steering wheel and door cards I want to address.

Exept magnet do not work on alumium or stainless steel. At least ventilation adjusters and gear selector seems to be alumium. Inside door latches i think they are, but rest i highly suspect that they are plastic.
(in northern winter the test are easy, since on -25C (-13F) the feel of metal against bare finger really feels different than plastic. Plastic are good temp insulator, where metal are good conductor)
