2016 XJL Headlight Retrofit?

2016 XJL Headlight Retrofit?
Do you guys think it is possible to retrofit the new 2016 model headlights to 2011-2015 cars? If so, I wonder how much Jaguar charges for a pair of new headlights. I believe the headlights are the same shape as the previous generations. Just don't know if the harness connectors are the same. Apparently, they are a full LED headlight.

Gaudin Jaguar sells 2015 adaptive headlights for $1,781 each, plus shipping. I expect 2016 adaptive headlights to cost at least as much. Even if the connectors are the same, I wouldn't be surprised if you get an error message if you swap 2016 for 2015 headlights since resistance may differ. $4K is pretty pricey for DRLs.

I doubt that you can get two 2016 adaptive headlights installed for $1800 net, after selling your used 2012 adaptive headlights. Even if you can, putting $1800 (or any amount) into new headlights for your 2012 is a style mod that won't get you any better performance or any more $$$ for your car when you sell or trade it.
I'd apply that money to a CPO 2013-up XJL 5.0L SC for the improved performance from the 8-speed transmission, Meridian Surround sound system, stop-start feature, and longer warranty and live without the DRLs until it's time to get a 2016..

I tried opening up the headlights and painting the housing gloss black but it is near impossible. Sealing it up would be a pita for sure and not worth the time and effort.
At $1800, I would't mind the 2016 headlights. 4K is just too much. I'm going to call the dealer on Monday.

For LHD cars there are two versions, for USA/CAN/MEX, or for other LHD markets.
I might be able to figure out the part numbers for the LHD versions if someone is extra keen.
But just FYI the RHD versions listed retail for $4000 a pair ex-UK so the LHD version will be around the same price...

Hi everyone. I waте to buy a facelift headlights and i have almost done it but i'm not sure if it will fit. As i can see the shape is the same but i worry about electrics if i can put it on without any new modules or something like that. The wiring is not a problem as i can imagine but i need to be 100% sure because it's a plenty of money what they are cost.
Any comments appreciate. Thanks

I looked into this over the weekend, spending some time comparing the electrical schematics from pre 2016 with 2016 cars. It was apparent that the wiring changed to be non-compatible at the 2015-2016 model year break. Prior to that each model year is compatible.
The cornering/bending lamp motors and the dynamic levelling systems are the same, as is the dip/full beam shutter and the high/low beam bi-xenon selection (albeit with different pin positions), but there is a new LIN bus wired from the central junction box and some of the grounds on the pre-2016 cars have been merged and/or reused for signal switching.
It would not be a straight swap and with the new LIN bus that is not present on earlier cars it would require some creative adaptions to get them to work.
In the end I'm not going to bother. The cost of the replacement lamps will be 1/15th the cost of a 2016 car in a couple of years time. I'll just hold off and replace mine then.

Wow, it is interesting to see how much of the front has to come off for this replacement. I am waiting to hear if all is working as should, I truly hope so.
I would imagine with the cost of parts and labor this was a costly venture. I added the Trunk Liner, Growler Lug Nuts, Illuminated Tread Plates F/R and Trunk Finisher and that in its self was very costly.
I am still thinking on a Remote Start with phone app at a cost of $1,600.00 but will not make the move until I am absolutely certain that I will not trade this car any time soon.
Right now I am thinking that I may make one more trade and that will be for the 2016 XJ, which has the Remote Start and Meridian Surround Sound that I would like to have.
