Default 2017 XJL seat bolsters inflate but seem to deflate over time

Good afternoon XJ (X351) owners/drivers/lovers,

I have noticed, of late, that when I "tighten up" the seat bolsters (driver side), they seem to "loosen" (deflate) over the next 15-20 mins, and I have to "inflate" them again. Anybody else run into this? Is this a "leaky bladder" problem? This was a certified XJL. Presume that would be covered under warranty? (I say "presume" because it sounds less like "***-ume"--so "presuming" only makes a "pre" out of me, rather than an "@ss"). Thanks all for your input!!

Not sure but my old 2005 STR seemed to do that. I had it checked at Jaguar but they said it was not losing air?
I felt the same way you did.

Thanks for clubairth1. Very interesting indeed. I really don't think I am "imagining" it. My XJL goes in for routine maintenance next month. I will have them check it out and report back.

Best!

Hi,

On both my XJ's the seat back lumber cushions will deflate over time 1-2 days, after all it's an air bladder with an exhaust. I think 15-20 mins is excessive IMHO. I tend to have mine at @75% max.

You should point out every single niggle, creak and gripe before your warranty expires, after that it's on your wallet.

Not pertinent to this instance or short time span (unless in an environment of rapidly changing outside ambient temp/pressure), but as far as over a longer period of time...
Air pressure is relative. So as barometric pressure (and temperature since they're related) changes, so changes the pressure within the bladder.
Same with tires, suspension, fuel mixture...

I imagine the design of the seat air bladders include a pressure relief valve, so that if outside pressure drops much (relative to the seat's internal volume/pressure), it won't cause the bladder to form a leak.
Maybe not, but I can't imagine the design engineers wouldn't - it ain't rocket science.

There must be a limit on the pressure because I can hold the button down and the lumbar support only pumps up so far?
Maybe the pump is limited in it's output?

Yes my 2014 hold the air and I never notice any leak down.
